I understand this. But people can still say no. They won't lose their membership. They won't lose a temple recommend. People say no more than you think. Plenty told me no when I was a bishop. And honestly most active Mormons like serving in the church. And for many it is part of their identity.
AS, when you were asked to serve a a seminary teacher were your negative about it? Did you want to say no? Did you try to say no and did the person asking you to do this twist your arm? Or were you happy to serve and now your comment about slave labor come about because of how you feel now?
