This is perhaps what bothers me most about all of this. He had been saying this stuff for years. Writing on his blog, and apparently repeating in class. But no one cared until it became a PR problem for the church.

And a very different definition of "absolute truth." I've come to learn that the apologists, and the Church as a whole, has never really been interested in what's true. We've been proving them wrong on so many points as it is and they simply dismiss them or ignore them without explaining how God's true Church needs people to lie for it. Simon's recent thread refuting their silly DNA DVD, along with mine and Brent's refutation of their Book of Abraham DVD. I mean this isn't a matter of one's interpretation over another. It is a simple matter of credentialed apologists flat out lying on camera for the sole purpose of testimony building. Keeping people in is all that matters. Truth is just a nuisance.

You might be looking at the Seminary or the Gospel Doctrine versions. The big one is the Institute manual to which I refer.

I like this whole controversy as it reveals the true nature of the apologists.

Look at Kevin's sig line. Notice the presence of abject economic illiteracy and reliance upon strictly pop cultural news and opinion sources as opposed to serious scholar, informed thoughts on these matters (he actually believes that tax cuts "cause" deficits, not government spending above its tax receipts).

Then simply extrapolate this same near laughable ignorance to Graham's work with the Book of Abraham. That's right, the same lack of intellectual rigor, honesty, and serious reflection he brings to his political and economic beliefs, he brings just as surely to his polemical tirades and tendentious handling of the evidence regarding the KEP.
