As I recall, DCP was called out on his defense of the Book of Abraham, specifically the Ensign article he wrote where he tries to explain that the 4 gods Joseph identified in FAC 1 were really worshipped in the ancient world. He footnotes a work by Lundquist as proof with no further explanation.
I think he quit when Mr. Stak said misused a quote.
Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07
MASH quotes I peeked in the back [of the Bible] Frank, the Devil did it. I avoid church religiously. This isn't one of my sermons, I expect you to listen.

They happened at the same time. I think he freaked and bolted. He seems more interested in talking about himself than he is in defending his weak body of apologetic work.

Yes, as I recall, it was those two key things--the Book of Abraham apologetics and his gross mis-use of a Camus quote--that precipitated his flight from the board.
"[I]f, while hoping that everybody else will be honest and so forth, I can personally prosper through unethical and immoral acts without being detected and without risk, why should I not?." --Daniel Peterson, 6/4/14

What's amazing is that his supporters still seem to believe Peterson is some kind of "super-apologist" who has all the answers to every critical attack!
I've never seen Peterson engage in a serious debate with any informed critic on any topic. Any time he has tried, he's been handed his ass on a platter. I can remember times when Metcalf, Vogel, Kevin Graham, and most recently Stak have made Peterson look positively stupid. And yet his fans think he's some kind of genius when it comes to Mormon apologetics. What a joke!
"I do not want you to think that I am very righteous, for I am not." Joseph Smith (History of the Church 5:401)
"You lack vision, but I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night.... Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see. My God, it'll be beautiful." -- Judge Doom

Peterson's main apologetic role seems to be talking head for media inquiries, and editing other people's work.

I don't know why the character in the picture is imagined to be so much geekier looking than Dan himself is.
Not that I care. I think geeks are cool. Many of my favorite relatives, cool guys, are engineer geeks. I just get the feeling based on this picture that Dan thinks he is much cooler than they are.
Right you are, Kish. And again, a perfect exemplar of the alleged "wit" and "humor."
From the Ernest L. Wilkinson Diaries: "ELW dreams he's spattered w/ grease. Hundreds steal his greasy pants."

I thought it was at least a little funny, and I'm an engineer geek myself. I like me just fine--for the most part.

Keep in mind that Daniel Peterson does frequently poke fun at himself.
