Re: for what it's worth: Darrick Evenson is homeless
Lets not turn this into a political issue okay? The best way to ensure no action is to politicize it. Republican, Democrat, Mormon or not, we can’t leave this guy on the streets like he doesn’t exist.
I don’t care if his sense of entitlement is off the scales, food and shelter is still needed.

We ought to ask for matching fund from all other boards.

Darrick only wanted to unite everybody, right? So let him.

Agreed. Somehow he needs a caseworker.

I know a lot of people in the Portland area, and I'm in Northern California right now, so if we can get in touch with Darrick somehow I'd be more than happy to help him connect with the right people or help him get down to the Santa Monica area where at least it will be warmer during the winter months and he's more likely to get quality homelessness services.

Probably has reasons for wanting to be in Portland. He is officially banned here, right? The pot thickens. Okay...there is the "L" for you literalists.

Yes this thread is about Darrick. I quoted a political point from what he wrote, the point being that liberal Oregon is no better for a homeless person than Dallas, Texas.
I'm not sure I'm completely comfortable being owned by you as 'your liberal'. I was rather hoping that YOU would be generous with your money. I was just offering you a cheap ticket out of Hell.
I seem to recall you whining quite a bit about not being able to receive government help at a low point in your life because you were not a black woman. Here's your chance to prove that non-governmental charities can fill the gap.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Nightlion, this is not the LDS church. Banning is not the same thing as excommunication. We recognize that the crazy-makers are often very effective in that role.

Neither is Darrick apparently. Why aren't the morally superior upstanding and enlightened liberals of Oregon (liberalisms mecca), filling the gap? That seems to be what attracted him to the area. Now he's getting a lesson on the fruits of liberalism and it's not what he was taught in public school. If he ever manages to stand up and fight again, he'll have a truly enlightened perspective and that perspective is that socialism offers no help for adult men.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Clearly you have never read King Benjamin's very eloquent sermon on how we ought to treat the poor, you anti-Christ you.

I agree that Darrick needs some medical help before he can contemplate a job situation. He looks pretty bad in that photo. I'm guessing that he has been off meds for quite a while.
It doesn't look as though the reporter from Willamette Week will be helping him to find that sort of care. He could be a good place to start in tracking Darrick down, though.
A board member in close proximity to Portland with a desire to help would be a very good thing.
Meanwhile, maybe we can come up with some funds to tide him over.
