Bob Crockett Has Passed Away

I am sorry to hear of this loss.

He was an interesting and intelligent member of the board community, though I know nothing of him personally.

This sad news helps me put petty squabbling in perspective.

Right, any of us could be next. It could be me! It could be you. It could be any of us. We are all gonna die and somebody on this board will be the next to pass. Who will it be? Nobody knows.

Any of us could suffer a fatal heart attack or some other unfortunate mortal imperfection.

Or get run over by a truck or slip and fall backward and crack the head open. The possibilities are endless.

God help us all.

So true, Shulem. We don’t know what the next moments of our life hold. My mother died recently at 89 years old. The doctor had told me “a process has started.” I knew what that meant. I never told her. I don’t think she knew how close she was. I was certainly shocked when she went down so fast.

Death still stings for those of us who are left behind when our loved ones pass. I wish sympathy and compassion to Bob’s family as they navigate this new void in their lives.

You were a unique one. Often a strange voice blaring from an otherwise abandoned island. While it seemed that way to me, I have no doubt you meant a great deal in very special ways to those close to you. That is the sense I get from this mysterious vantage point. My heart goes out to them.

This isn't the first MDB member death, but I feel a little weird about this board having existed long enough for its members to start expiring.

If Bob were around he would point out that since there is no death certificate yet he isn't legally dead and all claims about his death are being made from cowardly anonymous online posters who don't have a PhD or MD and can be dismissed out of hand for their lack of credentials.
