Quite so. Despite the laughable confidence of some of the folks responding to my blog post over on the Peterson Obsession Board, that the question has been settled to the unanimous satisfaction of all mainstream Christians.
I’m sure it keeps dozens of mainstream Christians up at night. The relief when they meet the missionaries and learn that all will be well after watching a movie in a Mormon temple must be palpable.

I have been reading Fawn Brodie's bio of Jefferson and her chapter on the relationship between Jefferson and Sally Hemmings. The founding fathers of the constitution are reported to have visited Joseph F Smith in the Salt Lake Temple asking that the temple work be done for them. Would or did they seal Sally Hemmings and her children to Jefferson. If not who was their father. She only fell pregnant when Jefferson was home at Montello.
