It warms the cockles of one's heart to see you defend the very person who holds himself and you (at least publicly) with so much disdain. The reason why people are aggressing on him is because he's an asshole, bigot, and hypocrite.
If he'd just stop being those things then this thread would simply... *poof* Disappear...

I don't deny that
Wade harbors obvious contempt for those who embrace their homosexuality. My personal disagreements with him on this (and moreso, the other) board are no secret. It's understandable,
Doctor CamNC4Me, that you have arrived at the characterizations you have of him, and I don't deny that I would agree with at least some of them.
In fact, I don't even deny that he may (or may not) feel a need to fight his own inner demons over this (or a similar) issue.
However,
Wade has admitted to some disorders. Having some experience with family members who suffer from mental disorders, I can say that it's highly unlikely that returning hostililty with hostility will get anyone--least of all, Wade, himself--anywhere constructive. In fact, if he is battling his own attractions towards members of the same sex (something which I have no idea whether or not he is), he may very well
welcome the verbal onslight he's receiving as some sort of personal chastizement or self-flaggilation over the issue... It would seem that the attention he receives seems to be feeding
some sort of need in him (and doesn't attention do something for each of us--even if it's negative?).
Who am I to judge...? (God knows I'm not a psychiatrist).
Whatever the case may be,
Wade adds a lot to the discussion, whether here or at MDD. Others who are reading learn quite a bit, because of his discussions and example--for good or ill. I'm glad he participates, both for his own and others' sakes. Perhaps, with time, he will continue to learn, grow, and soften as I hope we all do. In the meantime, message boards thrive on discussion of opposing viewpoints. After all, there must needs be opposition in all things, else how could we learn to recognize the light from the dark? ;)
My signature over on MDD would seem to be appropriate, here:
Have compassion for everyone you meet, even if they don’t want it. What seems conceit, bad manners, or cynicism is always a sign of things no ears have heard, no eyes have seen. You do not know what wars are going on down there where the spirit meets the bone.
