Maybe John Dehlin is just a difficult person to work with? Could be!
And the answer to that problem is: don’t work with him.

Mormon Expression, infants on thrones, and Mormon Stories all had a lot of conflicts amongst the podcasters. This is certainly not just a John Dehlin thing. The Infants did an entire episode just crapping on their time working under John Larsen.
I have so much hope that Bill and RFM won’t fall into the same dysfunction. Just their normal amount of dysfunction, where Bill has yet to get one of RFM’s jokes or references.

So far Bill and RFM have been pretty drama-free. I really enjoy their podcasts and my only complaint is that Bill "You're On Mute" Reel is on mute at least 5 times a show. Beggars can't be choosers and it has kind of grown on me now. There is even a group of listeners in chat that have developed a drinking game around Bill being on mute.drumdude wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 5:21 amMormon Expression, infants on thrones, and Mormon Stories all had a lot of conflicts amongst the podcasters. Re: Jenn Kamp Files Lawsuit Against John Dehlin
My academic department just went through the process of selecting a new chair. Three of my colleagues, including the current chair, were nominated or self-nominated. It was kind of a brutal process to observe. Suddenly the usual polite niceness dropped as we discussed the nominees frankly. In the end we felt we had three very imperfect candidates to choose from, none we were eager to put in the position, and one we decided to support because someone needs to be chairman.

Cool. I think Maven is liked by pretty much everyone, including me.When the evidence comes out, I think it will show quite the reverse—that the one who wanted Maven fired wasn’t John…

Oh boy…here goes. So John has a number of former employees who have severe vendettas against him and one current (?) employee who is being targeted by someone not named John? And to John, apparently, everyone else is crazy? “They be so crazy“. It’s certainly possible everyone who happens to work with John becomes the problem, but the chances of that keep shrinking as each new vendetta is born.consiglieri wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 3:53 amWhen the evidence comes out, I think it will show quite the reverse—that the one who wanted Maven fired wasn’t John…Kishkumen wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 11:52 pm

It’s really good for him he has a religious-like devoted following. One wonders if he has Joseph smith aspirations. He did more than Jesus as personal close friends were leaving him “but the saints never left” him, as I recall. With all this similar drama following John around you’d have to wonder what’s going on. For some reason I can’t get myself interested enough to do much more than comment here every so often as these flare ups come about. I ain’t looking into it. I’d probably come up with a phrase similar to “faith crisis” and capitalize on peoples sense of victimhood. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of these dramatizations. It may not be him, though. I recognize that. He’s dealing in pretty tumultuous waters, tugging on people’s emotional strings pretty hard as a built in feature of his work. It’s definitely been a useful business model for him. I don’t think we can deny that. These flare up’s don’t seem to be getting in his way.
I worked pretty hard to bring this all back to Mormonism.

John can’t help himself, he just loves to hire swooning women he meets at conferences. Can you blame him? What good is podcasting if you can’t get some female attention?
She claims Dehlin sent a video in which he said “not even Margi knows about this.” Given the rosebud texts it sounds perfectly in line with classic John sleazyness.
The Dehlin cycle continues. See you all next year for the next woman. It’ll probably be Karah again, or maybe Maven.

Ah, but you have it backwards dear Reverend.
The real problem is that John's heart is so big, his compassion so deep, that he hires troubled people out of a misguided sense that he can somehow help them.
Then these troubled people exploit John's fame and stellar reputation to get likes and clicks. And laptops.

After reading through this thread in its entirety, I have a much better understanding of how ignorant ex-Mormons can be when they constantly ridicule Mormons for having their beliefs misguided or for being mentally unstable. Because in regards to whatever it is that ex-Mormons believe in, you guys are not any better than any of the faithful Mormons that I am familiar with. In point of fact, the people who post on this forum regularly are a living example of why you ought not to walk away from the church. I believe the majority of Mormons would agree with what I have to say. Let me see! If I had to choose between a life spent believing in the teachings of Joseph Smith or a life spent preaching against the teachings of Joseph Smith while being unable to spend a single waking moment not being obsessed with Mormonism, I would choose the former.
