Unfortunately I am being grossly mischaracterized and unfairly treated by two board posters. IHAQ and Marcus. They have not been able to forgive and forget what they perceive to be past misdeeds. We may disagree on that in some respects, but I've been able to move past it. They haven't. Recently I used the term "mind virus". If you have a small nucleus of people that spread contagion in a room, it spreads. It has. As I've scanned through the postings of these two people I've again realized that I've made the right choice in not engaging with them (and a few others). The consequence is that they can, and are, continuing their vendetta against me.
This being the case, there will obviously be fewer interactions that I have with the board since it is these two posters that are typically hyper aware of what is going on in most threads and jump in regularly. This prohibits me, by default, in participating in some threads that I might like to. If I do jump in, I can be sure these two are going to carry on with their diatribes, mischaracterizations, and false innuendos. Essentially, making mountains out of molehills. It is a waste of my time and every one else concerned to have to wade through the crap to get to anything substantive. When I take the time to give what I believe to be a thoughtful response to a poster it doesn't take long for one of these two to come in and blow up the conversation or misdirect it into an 'all about MG' thread.
Frankly, that's a bit embarrassing. I don't like being the focus of a thread. I would rather discuss ideas and possible solutions to some of the dilemmas that some folks find themselves in regarding the church/gospel. That seems to be strictly verboten. And then another poster comes in and uses some kind of funky word analysis to paint me in a light that makes it appear as though I have less than worthy motives for my posting style and the things that I say.
The virus takes hold.
Rather than expose myself to that viral contagion and then have other posters subjected to the results of what occurs as a result of the contagion and its effects being 'the norm' I will participate only when I can see that by doing so it will be recognized, I hope, by a majority of board members as being in good faith.
Without the ice cream, that will be very difficult to accomplish.
I've tried. But then I'm misrepresented. And so it goes. It has gotten to the point where it is becoming old.
You folks aren't going to get active members of the church on this board. Maybe that's the way you want it. That way you can say and do whatever the heck you want. Wait, you're doing that already and getting away with it...
Herd mentality.
I'm the same guy on the board as I am off the board. Am I perfect? Heck no. But am I worthy of the crap? Also, heck no. It is what it is. Thanks for reading and letting me vent a bit.
Except for some exceptions (unfortunately) I've enjoyed the discussions and debates/conversations I've had. Stimulating and thoughtful at times. Thank you for those times.
Sorry Shades that I pushed back on the whole A.I. thing and disagreed with your decisions in some respects.
I think we could have made and equitable compromise. Be that as it may, I appreciated the degree of patience shown during that 'back and forth'. I think the board will be what a majority of participants want it to be as a result.Hopefully it is a net positive for all concerned.
Happy Holidays!
Regards,
MG
