We can make a rule that anytime someone is going to use the term in a derogatory way they must also include a pic of garmets and at least ten F-bombs.

I'm kidding with the rule thing... I know we don't like them! LOL

Also a slippery slope.

If any thread can be destroyed by one poster choosing to post certain content, all are at risk.

Sure they are. But that is part of determining that some content cannot be allowed on certain forums.

by the way, I think it's ironic that you make this comment, given your open statement, in the past, to make sure a thread gets moved.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Yes, I can be ironic.

Would you be opposed to ANY moderation? For example, the mods currently immediately remove threads with temple content to the telestial kingdom. Are you also opposed to that?

I'm asking because I'm getting the impression you're more opposed to banning/censoring altogether, rather than this particular instance.

But since this board is already moderated - would you have an objection to this, in particular, being included?

I am in agreement with the current methods of moderation. Reclassifying a post ensures its existence but not its longevity. Moving a thread broken off from the OP into a separate kingdom is in my view a highly reasonable solution.

If Merc can call me an animal, why can't I call him (if I so desire, I'm working on that) a retard?

I think this board is at the point of requiring chaperons for the minors here who may be out past their bedtime on a school night...

Agreed. Coggy, go back to the kids table so the big kids can have coffee and play bridge.

I think we should moderate it like we do any other swear word. We change the word.

If someone posts "Man you're a f***ing retard", we go in and change that to "Man you're a f***ing idiot."

Also, as to where does it end?? That is a stupid argument. I think the mods here use pretty good common sense. It's not going to turn into a ban-a-thon of words. The list of changeable words will be short.

I would also propose that nigger, kike, wetback, faggot, and the like be banned as well. Those words have no place in a discussion.

Would it not be best for the sub-moderators to recite the Serenity Prayer as their oath of office?

Yes, but we have access to an "edit" feature.

Like it! In civilized society these types of words are about a thousand times more offensive than the handful of common swear words we hear every day. Certainly these types of derogatory remarks are more offensive than discussing religious clothing.

Good idea Scottie!
