I just get so damned tired of this constant noise. I know... neither one of you cares, but I just thought I'd voice my opinion.

Aw come on.......... Scratch is trying his berry berry bestest to at least make it intelligent noise. He's failing with it, to be sure. There is mighty little intelligent about much of anything he posts, but what a joy to mimic and imitate and make fun of! It is shaping my literary skills and prowess so that I might have the ability to deliver a speech at the next FARMS Brownbag lecture, or maybe even a contribution to the FARMS Review. I mean golly, thanks to scratch we have entertainment here, and my own possible greatness and glory magnificed in the future as FAMRS publishes me! It don't no nohow get better than that lil lady!

Oh, I agree that it's ridiculous and tiresome. But the Scartchmeister plainly finds it deeply, deeply gratifying, so he keeps it going.
As he says, he exists for this. It's his raison d'être.
To be, or not to be. That is the question for Master Scartch.
Are you willing to simply let him fade away? Without his obsessive hostility to me, he just might, you know. Do you really want that on your conscience?

I don't know, Daniel. He's the only reason you're here. You've said that often enough. You hate this place; you have no friendship for any of us here. So... without him, there is no you.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you dare start a conspiracy against my future greatness and glory of publishing with FARMS by practicing imitating Scratch by trying now to make Scratch go away! SCRATCH! Pay attention here sonny boy! YOU STICK AROUND, I need your loonacy to practice my skills with so I can elevate myself with my own bootstraps as you do all the blinkin time! I want my chance for glory and greatness also. Don't let this Peterson dude scare ya off. I NEED YOU GOOD BROTHER! Please stay around here posting and showing how idiotic your arguments really are so I can polish on my own literary skills at your sorry-assed excuse for knowledge.

That's largely true.
But don't commit the obvious error of equating a reason to be here with a reason to exist.
Being on this board and existing are not entirely the same thing.

That's a bit self-aggrandizing, I'm afraid.
I don't really have any strong feelings for the place at all.

Actually, there are several people here that I like. I suspect they know who they are. (In some cases, I know that they do.)

See above.

The mentally ill just might not know the difference.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Huh? I have no idea how you got from here (as in, posting on MDB) to reason to exist (as in, being alive). Of course they are not connected. Why would you think I said they were?
When I say "here", I mean here, on MDB, not here, on earth.
As you are no doubt aware, some of us are here both because we like it here and because we are unwelcome in other places (often through no fault of our own). Some of us post many places; others of us post only here. Most of us know how others who are not here, who have never been here, who think they are better than we are (better Mormons, better Christians, better people) look down on us, marginalize us, patronize us. As you yourself have maintained. As you just did when you intentionally moved the goalpost from "here" on MDB to "here" here in earth.

But not wholly incorrect. Got it.

Indeed.

If, when I have an important meeting with a high powered individual who could make or break my career, I put a dress on over my slip and my slip is showing, I hope my friend will tell me my slip is showing. Only people who aren't my friends would allow me to meet with the important person with my slip showing. Only people who really don't like me at all would snicker at me behind my back because I didn't know my slip was showing or laugh in my face in an attempt to embarrass me in front of the important person. And the important person would ignore my slip entirely, if he/she had any class.
I'm not sure you would tell me my slip was showing... but I know Jersey would, as would Liz and Trixie and Roger and Jason and a few others. They care about me and about each other. Some of them, I know in real life.
It helps to know who ones friends are, even if my (or your) slip isn't showing, but especially if the slip is white and the dress is black.

I repeat... without Scratch, there is no you, here. And that would be... less.

Hey Hey Hey. Are you saying we're not likeable? Some of us are very likeable! I am likeable.
Some days.

I'm saying Daniel doesn't like us enough to stick around unless Scratch is here to poke at him.
