Has it really not been obvious, over the past several weeks, that Scratch isn't getting anywhere near the bang for his buck that he used to get?

So you don't care to speculate on that. Oh well.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Simply horrifying.

One of my many egregious sins is that, sometimes, I fail to be interested in what other people demand I should find interesting, even decline to devote my life to topics that others expect me to devote my life to.

Daniel Peterson,

You have not just ignored them, you have said they are a "joke" (I guess that may mean you have READ them) and then you have suggested that others ignore them.

Oh dear. So this is what I should say, when you tell me to read something... usually something you have authored?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

You're free to read whatever you want, and to fail to read whatever you don't want to read.

It only becomes problematic when you insist on opining about subjects without having read works of fundamental importance on those subjects.

I'm genuinely not interested in the authors who captivate Mr. Marchant, and I don't have much to say about them, either.

I notice that the "Seething Cauldron of Hate" Joined about two years ago and has 4844 Posts. I have wondered what has made him so busy (avoiding a serious discussion of Mormon history). I guess it takes a lot of energy and time deciding what is NOT important to read. I'm envious, wishing I had as much time as he seems to have.

The Kommittee zur Verstärkung der Kirchenmitglieder (a.k.a. SCMC) pays me by the post, in unmarked bills delivered MWF to the door of my house.

On the other matter: I apologize, yet again, for not sharing your particular hobby enthusiasm.

I was trying to translate Bruno Bauer's 1877 book, Christus und die Caesaren, and learned of this nifty URL for changing German to English: http://ets.freetranslation.com/ and it shows that your "The Kommittee zur Verstärkung der Kirchenmitglieder (a.k.a. SCMC)" means The Kommittee to the strengthening of the church members.

By the way, have you read Bauer's (never translated into English) book? I understand it blows both The First Vision and The Gold Plates theory "out of the water," neither of which would likely hold any "...particular hobby [or] enthusiasm" for you.

And you know this before you've even translated it?

No, I haven't read it. If it ever seems important to do so, I will.

Your tastes aren't mine, so your recommendation, as such, doesn't really persuade me that the book is even relevant, let alone devastating.

Do you have the German text? If you have it electronically, feel free to share it. Maybe somebody down here will want to take a look at the thing.
