He has NEVER acted on his feelings and remains celibate. If you read the full article, you will see that he considered suicide due to his SSA feelings. He also had melancholy feelings when he interviewed a gay couple for his film because he realized he would never have the opportunity to have that "in-love" feeling due to his choice to not act on his SSA tendencies.
If you are referring to Hastings, his co-producer, they live in different states, and are only involved professionally, not personally. Hastings is tentatively "dating".
