Pretty sad. And then the retention rate is, I think, only 20% (If I recall correctly). So 1 convert per year per salesman.

my point is its tough to get people to join religion. I don't think its a measley figure per se. It ain't half bad in the sense that its tough to sell it. You can't get people so dedicated to do missionary work, and you can't get anyone, let alone 5 per year to join a religion, I'm sure.
Love ya tons, Stem
I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.

I think religion is a tough sale. Most stay within the religion they were born in, even though they may not be very religious. Missionary convert numbers have fallen significantly, although they may increase if they put more missionaries in the developing world, which I think the church is doing.
Now how about answering my question stem? I think it is a reasonable question about what you have asserted.

I agree that 5 per year isn't half bad, because religion is a tough sell. Comparative conversion rates are similar. Jehovahs Witnesses averaged 296,000 baptisms per year between 1996 and 2005. About the same as LDS. But they don't have Moroni's Promise. So with or without Moroni's promise, religion is a tough sell. 5 per year per missionary sounds about right for any religion. But based on what I've heard about the power of Moroni's promise, I would expect far more than 5 converts per year.

Hang on..."it's a tough sale"? This is Gods one true sales force we're talking about. Inspired by Him, directed by Him, motivated by Him and selling a product with the direct help and support of the Holy Ghost. Who helps both the seller and the prospective buyer realise the product is the secret to Eternal Life, the truth the whole truth and the only correct truth on the earth today.
1 retained purchaser per year per Sales person is a disgrace. Someone should get sacked.

Yes, but stemelbow makes a point that it is about what you would expect from your average religion salesperson, and I agree. But as you point out, with Moroni's promise, and the Holy Ghost, god's salespeople should be unstoppable, like a rock cut from the mountain. Every person they speak to should be converted, for nobody can resist the power of the holy ghost and moroni's promise. But we have to remember that satan is working extra hard to harden the hearts of the people. Satan doesn't care about those other false religions. He has focused all his efforts working against the one true church. So even though the Mormon missionaries have god, the holy ghost, and moroni's promise on their side, they are also fighting against the full strength of the adversary. So it all balances out and in the end they end up converting at about the same rate as other churches.

Hmmm...
Mormons claim a membership of less than 0.2% of the earths population. Leaving the balance in the grip of a competitors product.
Holy Ghost/Missionaries/Members = 0.2% of the market Alcohol/Pornography/Fun = 99.8% of the market
Shouldn't God be head hunting Satan to come and manage His sales team for Him?

LOL. Satan continues to outmaneuver god and gain market share. I can picture elohim at weekly meetings with Jesus and the big 15 with graphs and charts showing their lousy performance against satan, yelling at Jesus, "Why did I ever listen to you? I should have hired that guy to run my operation."

Yes but Jesus very cleverly pinned all the blame back onto God. Remember the whole "and the glory will be yours" speech? I think that was when God decided on crucifixtion rather than the original 'die quietly in your sleep' plan.

Another possible scenario for testing would be to have newly diagnosed cancer patients given a priesthood blessing that they will recover. But on a double blind trial we will secretly replace the consecrated oil they usually use with WD40. On a statistically significant basis we should see a longer average life of those receiving a correct priesthood blessing.
Once the results are in we can publish the findings in the New England Journal of Medicine. From there we can have Melchizedek priesthood holders stationed in medical facilities and major health insurance companies will employ them because of the reduction in heath care expenses.
