It's a binary Mr. Computer Scientist, a binary. Either there was a reason or there was not a reason. Both cannot be true.
I suppose it takes a computer scientist to note that it's not binary at all. First of all, notice the use of "we don't know precisely" That alone takes it out of the realm of binary. Second, I referred you to the part of the sentence you cut off and the one before it. The context is we don't know precisely why it started in the latter-day Church. Obviously, there is no revelatory statement given in LDS history. However OD 2 acknowledges Divine appointment as I've shown before.
Notice also from the publications that we don't know the full reason for the ban which was from the time of Adam. Notice again how the Church's Newsroom statement to which you cling to the exclusion of all others (showing that you have a gospel hobby here)
All this combines to show that we actually do know some things, including some reasons and operations. The Church continues to publish them and teach them in it's manuals. Hence your personal doctrine is in conflict with the Church.
It's long been a truism that Engineers and Scientists excel at English over English and other useless majors.
