And don't tell me, your kind of morality is like Joseph Smith's right? The "what is wrong in one situation could be right in another, Nancy Rigdon letter type morality." You are all for that, aren't you?

It is related to the other thread Tobin. I've read Luke 17 too: " Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Your interpretation of it, however, leads to chaos and confusion because people do in fact say "Lo here! or, lo there!" and of course they all claim that they have spoken to God and that God has told them what to do. "By their fruits shall ye know them" is only midly helpful because, well, some people like apples and some people like oranges. See, e.g., the last several thousand years of human history. Like many others on this board, I can no longer accept speaking with God to be a valid way to discern truth.
Interesting. I pegged you as someone that was afraid of the boogie man in the closet and needed the night light left on just in case.
No, boogie men don't scare me. I told you, it is idiots like you, walking around saying they speak with God, waiting for his direction to know when to breathe, crap, and god knows what else.
Oh, and did I tell you that I think your story is full of crap?
I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil... Adrian Beverland

In other words, you don't believe in the scriptures. Interesting. I thought you believed that Book of Mormon (as least parts) was inspiried. If not by God, then who?
"You lack vision, but I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night.... Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see. My God, it'll be beautiful." -- Judge Doom

No, boogie men don't scare me. I told you, it is idiots like you, walking around saying they speak with God, waiting for his direction to know when to breathe, s***, and god knows what else.
Oh, and did I tell you that I think your story is full of s***?
And I don't care. I'll continue to state the truth as best I see it and invite you to seek and speak with God yourself. If you want to know now if there is really a God and have that blessing in your life, that is something you have to do. At the end of the day, you are going to eventually grow old and die and see God. It is inevitable.

I'm kinda torn here, because I agree with Cicero that speaking to God has led some people to do some crazy things, but I feel like I have to defend Tobin here a bit, because outsourcing your morality to an organization can be pretty irresponsible, too, and I think that's what he was getting at with his response to Ray.

Belief in God does not mean all your ability to reason is removed. Crazy people are going to do crazy things, whether or not God exists.

Well, sure, but unless you're willing to use your reason to contradict something God has told you then it's a meaningless distinction. If God told you to do something crazy, would you disobey him?
