David emailed me tonight asking me to take the article off the MC. I did right away and removed his post quotes from the EMF.

Best of luck to him.

MormonThink wrote:Those that follow the MormonThink philosophy are often more concerned with discussing historical aspects of the church and promoting true history over the commonly-held beliefs that are generally taught in the church.

How insidious to "the Church". Those truth seekers, that is.

This is just all kinds of disturbing.

Are you saying that you previously had a high opinion of dear Brother Haymond?

No kidding . . . I feel like channeling my inner Vince Lombardi: "What the hell's going on out there?"

Doctor Scratch wrote:Can you elaborate on this, Shades? I have to admit that I'm not surprised to learn that Holyoak is involved in all this. He was apparently the one who was busy cyber-stalking John Dehlin in an effort to mine "damning" quotes against him. He was also involved, I believe, in helping to assemble the FAIR Wiki "article" on Mormon Think.

I suppose I can. My informant told me that he or she noticed that the new FAIR page that has replaced the nuked blog is controlled by someone with the username "atari_guy" (how he or she found this out, I don't know). He or she then did a google search; this led to a Twitter account with that username. The user's Twitter feed mentioned his pinterest account, and the link led to Trevor Holyoak's page. . . all this according to the informant.

Then again, I notice that you characterize him as "the workhorse behind the resurrection of FARMS," which makes me think that you're mistaken, and that you're actually thinking of Bryce Haymond. If the latter is the case, then my opinion of Haymond has diminished considerably.

OOPS! I thought Holyoak was the one who set up the new FARMS website. I apologize for the confusion; Bryce Haymond has nothing to do with this. In other words, I was correct about the name but not the occupation.

[MODERATOR NOTE: I just accidentally deleted a post. SteelHead, I think it was yours. In any event, it was a single-sentence post that went something like, "Why would he want the material taken down unless he was planning to comply with their demands?" Please re-post, and I apologize for the inconvenience.]

I seriously think the Church does not want Romney to win.
They would wish for the media attention to stop so if they can help cock the job (albeit Romney seems to be doing a good enough job of this himself) by having short term pain for long term anonymity, then it's worth scapegoating someone like MormonThink.

Either that or the entire PR department needs firing...

Wow, i was thinking they would wait till after November before attempting to rein in some of the exuberance which the members have been getting away with since Romney first popped his head up. They are not even waiting for the conservative anti-Mormon backlash to use as a pretext for a clamp down.

General conference is going to be a downer

It looks like the editor wants this to be private since all personal information has been removed on several sites. I respect that, but at the same time I think it is important for people to see what the LDS church does to people for publishing the whole story. Hopefully if the editor is exed, he'll write about it publicly.
Hopefully the future of MormonThink is not in any way in jeopardy.
