Yeah, and they just banned a faithful member (UtahTexan) for no apparent reason. Just up and banned him.
Sheesh. Way to go MADb.

I figured they would clean it up and re-enable it, apparently not. It was a jkwilliams op anyway, not worth the time I suppose.

I did notice that calm had posted to the thread, towards the end, long before I was banned. I suspect she does not have admin rights on the site but is just the faithful stool pigeon.

Was this the thead where someone ask Calm if she was Scott Lloyd's Mother? Classic.
That was probably enough to make calm MAD enough to get the whole thread erased.
God those people are thinned skinned.

Re: The MAD Board Has Clearly Jumped The Shark
UT, lets move this over to this thread
Jersey Girl gave a bit of history yesterday, I hope she will jump in here and set this straight:
I believe it was a Tanner's lighthouse ministries bulletin board that preceded the FAIR board -> MAD -> MDDB. I believe this board originated about the same time as the FAIR board.
I believe Julianne (sp?) was a moderator on that original board preceding FAIR and has maintained moderator rights through the progression. She is likely the one with rights on the current MDDB that pushed the button to suspend you.
Anyway I believe that original creation of the FAIR board was to gain control of the conversation. I believe the FAIR move to MAD was to avoid being associated with the ugliness of a critic verses believer contentious site. The move from MAD to MDDB happened right around the downfall of Dan Peterson and crew from MI, where the ugliness of ad-hominem as a tool in apologetics is said by the critic as a main cause.
I did the history no justice there, but this is where you jumped into the battle in your underwear and helmet. You come on the scene with in-your-face ad-hominem, ready to fight the good fight, something which from the time of the original move to MAD the FAIR crew wanted to distance themselves from. I'd suggest that the management with rights at MDDB are FAIR members.
Thus you were hurting their reputations with your posting style. There are a handful of posters with a long history here and there that are very TBM but their views/actions are so bizarre as to put them on their blacklist. You've just made that list.
On this site, be as ad-hominem as you desire, there you have been censured, you have been warned, you must measure your every word there from here on out for fear of strike 2 against unspoken rules based on a long nasty history of which few now know much about.

I'll move my comment over too, Rockslider, it's part of the same discussion about TBMs with bizarre behavior:
Lemmie wrote:UT wrote:odd
Why do you think it's odd? Do you know the background? Search ldsfaqs, Obiwan here, you'll see the story.
UT wrote:I do not know the story...but I think it is odd that folks are getting banned without reason. I have seen nothing worth banning
Lemmie wrote:Ok. Our opinions differ. I have seen behavior worth banning from TBMs. Obiwan was one, CountryBoy was another.

The Tanners' UTLM message board preceded ZLMB, which many people seem to think was the greatest Mormon discussion forum of all-time. You can see here for an extended account of what happened to ZLMB, and the subsequent rise of the FAIR message board (which then morphed into MAD--"Mormon Apologetics and Discussion" and finally MDD).
I haven't kept up with what has been happening on MDD for quite some time. They have shifted moderators in and out, though. I don't know how accurate it would be to claim that juliann was in any way involved in the banning(s)/ censorship. I had been under the impression that she had mostly withdrawn from participation over there, but I could be wrong.

My problem with them is they won't say why they ban someone or they make it up. In my case, I was supposedly banned for a few days for saying something about the temple ceremony (which I did not).
