The really dumb thing about Scryver's misogyny is that FARMS itself told him to get the hell out of there and NEVER come back, he was completely and totally excommunicated from FARMS academics DUE TO HIS MISOGYNY. And they are STILL defending Scryvner?! Perhaps they ought to go ask why FARMS kicked his ass between his shoulders and told him adios loser.......

I'm not sure that this is altogether true, Philo. My understanding of the events is that there were a few folks at FARMS--notably Brian Hauglid--who stepped up and called out Schryver for his behavior, but that there were still some people--DCP and Paul Hoskisson, perhaps--who were sticking up for Schryver, but the Powers That Be ultimately sided with Hauglid.

I was simply taking what I remembered form Scryver's own admission. Thank you for the heads up D. Scratch. That's fantastically interesting that Hauglid caught the ridiculousness of Scryver and Peterson never did and went with Scryver' heinous and debilitating immoral misogyny. That alone is all the commentary one needs on Peterson for reliability about much of anything.

Peterson appears incapable of making an honest, good faith effort to deliver on that promise, which he sealed with "I keep promises."

You don't, Dan. You continue to break your promise every day. Show some good faith by strongly and publicly asking Mr. Kiwi57 to stop the trash talk with such labels as "hate site" and "traitors and haters website". You promised, and you said that you keep promises. If Kiwi57 values your good name, he'll see this and/or your encouragement, and knock it off.

I did not force Dan Peterson to enter into our contract. He made the choice from multiple options presented in private emails.

The contract was real.
His promise and good word were real.
The money I sent to Interpreter was very real.
And now Dan’s duplicitous bad faith is also evident and real. For all the world to see. What a shame, when all he has to do to make his good word “good” is to simply not say mean things, and encourage his blog users to also not say mean things.
A man’s word is his honor. Does Dan Peterson have any left?
We shall see if he chooses to turn this lie around in time.

I'm asking everybody here to ignore them, more or less. Occasionally, I feel it necessary to respond (e.g., when, as they recently have, they level very grave accusations of anti-Semitism and religious bigotry against me). Still, on the whole, I hope that they will be ignored. I absolutely don't want their message board and its themes to dictate the tone or focus here in the comments section of my blog.

There is a fellow over there who made a substantial donation to the Interpreter Foundation with the expressed accompanying hope that I would do what I could to tone things down between his board and the comments on this blog. I'm trying to do that. (I keep my promises, and not only as a matter of public honor.) I have no control over that place, of course. The fury against me and you, and so forth, burns fiercely there and is likely to continue to do so until sometime after both you and I have been gathered to our ancestors. But I do have some influence here.

I think that giving Moksha and Shades each a time-out has helped in that direction, and I'm willing to do so again, and even to make their departure permanent -- and to broaden the net beyond the two of them -- if continued misbehavior makes it necessary.

That said, I believe that they're both capable of better things than they've been showing us here, and I hope that they'll choose to improve their behavior and to stay.

In what way is Peterson trying? Did he sigh loudly when Kiwi posted the above? Or did he “tut tut” at Midgley’s post? Is that what constitutes keeping one’s promises to Peterson? Or is trying and failing good enough? Such dishonesty.

Once they read MsJack's thread, I imagine the Maxwell and BYU administrator's own conscience would permit no other course of action.

While we were the recipients of the bad behavior by SeN regulars, we were certainly not the underlying cause of that behavior. It felt more like Trump trying to treat COVID-19 with bleach.
