Of course not! Stubborn demagogues don't give in to things like facts and the contradictions to their worldview.

Why are you still Tenured? Oh, that's right...your defending the faith.

Sigh.

Demagogue

1. A leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace.
2. A leader of the common people in ancient times.

I have yet to hear an impassioned emotional appeal by DCP. I didn't know he was a leader either or that rhetoric was his mainstay. I always thought it was mostly writing books and teaching about the Middle East.

Oh, now I understand. DCP is a secret danite and gives the pep-talk right before they go out and toilet paper countermo's homes.

I asked Paul what the great truths in the Book of Abraham were exactly. But he disappeared. Paul?

Read the book for yourself, I am not your teacher. The things therein are true. I feel they are true. I believe they are true. That is good enough for me.

Most people would call that "making stuff up."

The same could be said for John's Book of Revelation - yet many believe it is true. I believe it is true. I have faith.

I've read it. I don't see anything new or substantial. Point it out.
The "I am not your teacher" thing is just an embarassingly obvious cop out.
It has never stopped you before.

Then you must remain blind. I'm not here to enlighten you about the mysteries of godliness. You will have to get that for yourself. Start with faith, then continue from there. You have the tools you need and the instructions are in the scriptures. Whether you fail or not is YOUR doing.

I had faith when I read it. I imagined all sorts of things.
But, when you really, look and try to spell it out and compare it with real knowledge (like real astronomy) you see you ain't got bupkiss.

But anyway, thanks for inadvertabtly admitting that there is nothing much in there.

Tarski,

Today, I read the following account of someones' near death experience, and I find it to be interesting.

"At that moment, I became convinced that there is life after death and God is real. I also sensed that what we think we know on earth is only a fraction of what is knowable in the universe. I had a sense of purpose that I was on earth for a reason and I needed to find what that was. Before the event, I thought I had a lot of power as a nurse and that science could explain everything, but afterwards, I felt humbled, awed, and put in my place about what is true and what is TRUE."

Well, I don't necessarily believe it was made up, but I do think that it wasn't for some far off future time. It was for the time he was in.
