Runtu, I so hope to see you at lunch that Friday! But, I understand if you can't make it, though I will be mightily disappointed.

I hope you can get off work for the lunch, Dr. Shades! There's no need for me to rush back to the hotel. As long as I make it back for the hotel's happy hour in enough time to get buzzed before open mike night, I'm fine, lol! I'm also perfectly willing to miss some of that session in order to do something more fun with other exmos. Mishie and I are thinking about finding a place to go dancing!

Why me, if you were in Salt Lake City, I'd be happy to meet you! Then you could tell everyone you'd met a real live exmo, lol!

I may be available for the luncheon...but I don't want my presence to ruin the gathering.

And, RFM has perminently banned me, so I doubt that I would be welcome at the conference. ;-(

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

I think I'll be able to make it.

Wade, my intuition is that your presence would be appreciated. As far as the conference goes, I would imagine a banning on a board would not mean the exclusion from a conference. My guess is that if Mr. Scratch were to show up at the FAIR conference, he would be welcomed. I suspect your behavior would be impeccable.

Now I definitely need to reconsider!

Nah, i would come, if it was a bit earlier - like say around lunchtime.

There were Mormons at the conference last year. Will Schryver was there, and I'm sure there were others. Being banned from RfM has nothing to do with who can or cannot attend the conference.

As far as I'm concerned, Wade's presence at the conference is neither here nor there. But his presence at the luncheon hosted by Trinity would NOT be appreciated, at least by me. Last year, at the luncheon, I was able to talk about my experiences in Mormonism without feeling judged and without the expectation that someone would call me cognitively impaired or tell me the problem lies with me and not with the Mormon church. I would like to enjoy that same freedom this year and will not have it with Wade Englund in attendance.

Anyone attending a gathering of exmormons should probably expect that the church will not be spoken of kindly at least once. I suppose whether someone like Wade would feel comfortable in the midst of all the bitter apostates is something only he can decide.

I figured as much, and will respect your wishes by not attending. Enjoy!

Well...I have mingled extensively with "bitter apostates" over the years, and I have found them far less comfortable with me than I with them--particularly some of the "bitter" women.

And, while my intent in mingling has been to bridge the divide and help "bitter apostates" to heal; I have come to realize that in practice, too often the opposite occurs; and so with certain rare exceptions, it is best to leave those good folks alone, particularly when they request it.

With that said, and depending upon the venue, I may stand outside the convention and engage only those who may wish to approach me.
