Problem is that everything is political with Cogs.

(From the "Liz is a rat fink" (LOL) thread)With regards to what people have said about myself or others behind the scenes, I largely don't give a damn. What we see on boards is only one portion of who a person is in real life and I don't come here to participate in real life, I come to participate in dicussion, to learn and also to hack around a bit because my real life is quite demanding.
Posting comments would be your choice but I really am not married to the gossip mill on boards. This isn't my real life, no one here pays my bills, takes care of my family, does my job and so in the grand scheme, it's not important to me. By and large, most posters on a board are unimportant to me, except for a select few. Infact, I can think of only one poster on this board who knows anything real or relevant about me and my life, and so the rest are simply acquaintenances in terms of Internet interaction.

Because it reflects the truth about posting on boards:
1) We only see one portion of the person posting, or small portions. I don't believe forums give us a full picture.
2) I'm not married to the gossip mill either. I seldom PM, and I seldom get PMs. Probably because I bite.
3) By-and -large what is said here (about me) is not that important. It's more like a cyber-fantasy. The people who know, and interact with me daily are the ones who really know me. My children know me best.
4) My real life isn't that demanding (now), but I do come here for some entertainment, and communication, which I like.
5) No one here pays my bills. No one here cares.
6) I consider all to be "Internet acquaintances", not real life friends.
7) No one here knows about my real life, and the only poster, on any board, with any conception of that, is Dan Peterson.

Where is that?
I guess I'm protected to some extent from real life bullies. Qantas isn't offering many discount fares to Australia these days.
Jersey Girl wrote:Now to the unhealthy aspects. There appears to be a consensus of board participants over the years, that I tend to be tenacious on the boards. Not always, but I do go that route sometimes. Someone even likened me to a Pit Bull. :-D
Having said that...the unhealthy aspects of board participation are those times when a poster has attempted to figuratively reach through the screen to me on the ground and the implied threat was "back off or I'll screw with you in real life". Those times, which fortunately are in the past (at least at the moment), are times when I've actually lost sleep over my participation... but didn't back off. (I refer you to my "how to deal with bullies who are real life chickens***" policy)
So yeah, there are some very unhealthy people behind the screens "out here" and in those instances where someone gets a real case of the ass for you, they could indeed do you harm in real life and if nothing else, cause you to have anxious moments.
