I tend to go in spurts over there. I'll post a while, get tired of the predictable discussion, stop posting, and then a while later I'll go back.

Part of what is entertaining to me is watching for the appearance of my malevolent stalker, who these days is calling himself Ipso Facto. I never know what innocuous post will set off this crusader for all things decent and good against yours truly, the slick purveyor of hate.

Yesterday I got psychoanalyzed by the good stalker, and when my wife saw it, she said, "Tell me again: why do you hang out with all those mean people on that board?"

I agree, though, that the level of inanity is increasing. The other day beastie participated on a thread about Mesoamerica and was treated to three pages of lostindc doing nothing but calling her crazy, hateful, and bitter. For some odd reason the mods decided to let that barrage of substance-free ad hom stand.

I'd enjoy having lunch with you sometime.

Though probably -- owing to the arrival of Oregonian in-laws later this afternoon and a lecture trip to St. George and a few other things -- not until after next week

Every once in a while I get tempted to post on that board, but I think that it would just serve to hasten my inevitable slide into senility.

I will say that the Ipso Facto character is one of the more interesting. I like what Nevo called him the other day: an unreconstructed old order Mormon. Or something like that. Hilarious. I actually miss those kinds of Mormons. You have to get into the rural areas to find them anymore.

Why do you call Ipso your 'malevolent stalker'? What's that all about? I thought the stalker was Wheat.

I also agree that lostindc is perhaps the most idiotic poster I have ever seen over there. The guy is about 90% incoherent and 10% just plain nuts.

As for the discussion between beastie and Brant Gardner ... wow! I can't believe Gardner kept coming back again and again. The guy must be a masochist.

Oddly, we can agree on that.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that Ipso is Wheat, but rather there always seems to be someone over there who is offended by my existence and takes it upon him/herself to attack at every opportunity. Currently, that rotating seat is held by Ipso Facto.

I should probably retract that statement since Ipso Facto and I subsequently made peace via PM (which he initiated). He's a better person than I had given him credit for.

Thanks. I guess my problem is that I only have so much time during the day to spread lies and distortions about the true church.
