I will be ecstatic the day race is no longer an issue to anyone anywhere in regards to marriage or anything else. Maybe the Millenium....

My intention was not to dictate what your belief is, I am just trying to understand it. I have no problem with racial diversity. Polynesians, African Americans, Hispanics and other have ethnic traditions and backgrounds that I feel should be celebrated and encouraged. I have a friend (Your basic white guy) who married a Hispanic woman. He loves to attend Hispanic celebrations and other events and I feel is a better person for embracing a culture that is not his own.

I was not aware of too many viewpoints specific to a race or culture that may make an interracial marriage a bad idea. There may be some racial and cultural ideals in regards to the inclusion and importance of extended family into the marriage, but even this viewpoint may not be present in all from that race or culture. Making sure in courtship that the one you intend to spend the rest of your life/eternity with has compatible views may be very important, but does race really matter?

You mean like the Germanic people expecting us to put Oktoberfest ahead of Pioneer Day in importance? Or people of African heritage putting more emphasis on barbecued brisket than Jell-O salad with carrots? Or the French turning their haughty noses up at our treasured Fry Sauce while they long for the buttery creations of their own sous chefs?

Those are weighty matters.

No. I am talking about basic cultural differences in how life is lived. They are not always insurmountable obstacles but they SHOULD be taken into consideration.

Suggested checklist for Mormon marital partner selection:
(assumes partner slection comes from a list of potentials who are of an opposite sex to you)

1. Are they from the same race as you? if yes proceed to 2. If no, pick someone else.
2. Are they from a similar economic (wealth) background? if yes proceed to 3. if no pick someone else.
3. Are they blessed/cursed with the same level of intelligence as you? if yes proceed to 4. if no pick someone else.
4. Are they are Mormon like you? if yes proceed to 5. if no, get them baptised quickly or pick someone else.
5. Are you in love with each other? if yes consider that a bonus, if no get over it and marry them anyway.

"Cultural differences in how life is lived"? Huh? What is this, exactly? How is this different for a white Latter-day Saint versus an Asian or Black LDS?
