You know what, Joseph? I could care less whether or not you are banned. You have absolutely no power over this site any longer. Shades has disengaged the image code once again, so the image violation problems are moot.

Also, I have no problem with you reporting offenses in copyright laws. What I have a problem with is you bullying members who disagree with you, via PM, with proactively LOOKING for these violations, even when they are not done in an intentional manner.

That is using the site as a pawn for your own gain, and that is what is objectionable.

Stop pulling this DCMA thing out as a Trump card every time something doesn't go your way, and I think you will find that you will be much more accepted.

I don't think he'll ever be accepted. It's probably kinder just to ban him. His name is mud here.

It isn't up to you.

Thousands of Internet forums exist today without any image rules (though some have a "no leeching" policy, meaning the image has to be hosted on a free image server like tinypic). Some of the largest forums like offtopic.com, 4chan.com, and somethingawful.com are healthy, vibrant communities with probably hundreds of images from all over the Internet posted every day. It's been this way for over a decade. Other sites like YTMD and Memegenerator host thousands of potentially copyrighted images, and they remain very popular.

So, why don't you police them?

The truth is, Joseph, that it is not up to you to police anyone.

Also, Joseph, since you refuse to pick up my PM's after you send me offensive ones, let me just say here that:

1. My problem with you is not that you are reporting copyright offenses. It is the fact that you have attempted to use Shades' site as a pawn in harassing PM's to myself and others when things have not gone your way.

2. If you report an incident on the board that you feel needs Moderator attention, do not bother to PM me. Your PM's to me will go unread and will be deleted immediately. I do not need your harassment or verbal/written abuse. You are the other Moderator's problem...not mine.

I support Shades' policy of a ban-free discussion board. Never is such a policy more difficult to uphold as when a poster such as Joseph comes along. And never is it more valuable. My hat is off to Shades.

Although it does remind me of an apocryphal story where Abraham, ever the congenial host, gives room at his table for an older gentleman who proceeds to blaspheme God up one side and down the other, and simply will not stop.

Abraham finally has enough and throws him out into the desert.

That's when the voice of God comes to Abraham and says, "I've put up with this schmeckel for sixty-years and you couldn't abide him for one evening? Oi vey!"
