Lulu because the friend who is helping me knows their templates well and is going to do a custom layout.

The technically challenged consiglieri is definitely going to put this at the top of his Christmas list.

The one where I get things I really want for myself!

Congrulations, John.

Writing a book is no small feat.

I read a bit of what was available in the preview section and it looks like a winner.

All the Best!

I just had to share this, as it's put me in a good mood.

One of my wife's friends bought my book. This woman does not like me at all because she thinks I'm an evil apostate, among other things. So, of course, she's outraged that I published the book and told my wife she should demand I pull it out of circulation. Of course, she hadn't actually read it, but I think she was prepared to go medieval on my butt.

Her husband served his mission in Bolivia about 6 years before I did, and his younger brother was in the mission when I arrived in Bolivia. A few years ago, the three of us worked together with the Scouts in our ward in Houston, so we became pretty good friends.

Yesterday, I saw a review on Amazon from "Sandman," my wife's friend's husband, who is a bishop now (in fact, both brothers are bishops); he read the book and loved it. I'm left wondering how a book that a bishop loves can be anti-Mormon and negative.

FYI, I created a page for the book on Facebook with some pictures and some links.

Runtu, your blog is fascinating. I'm going to have to pick up your book as well.

Hey Runtu, I'm left wondering and I'll perhaps find out soon enough, does this book, in your estimation, resonate more with missionaries who served in Bolivia or some place like it? I went stateside. I read the portion of the book available on Amazon and I kind of get that impression. Also, I couldn't figure out when your mission was. I'm sure the book gives that detail, but if you'd give me a bit of an idea I'd be happy.

Thanks.

Obviously, the book's situations and places are more familiar to people who have been in Bolivia, but I think the story is interesting enough that it can be meaningful to most people. Already I've had great responses from never-Mormons, ex-Mormons, and believing Mormons, most of whom know very little about Bolivia. I think it's just a good story about having naïve preconceptions about how the world works and then, when you find out it doesn't work that way, you adjust, adapt, and grow.

And I was there from 1984-86, if that helps.
