It's the LDS church's fault that people feel compelled to do this. If the church doesn't tell the truth to the world, or even its own members, who will? It's up to the average man to do it. It's totally the church's fault. Perhaps this man would be doing something more constructive with his time if it wasn't for the church lying to its people about its historical foundations. Blame the church, not the people exposing the lies.

Hey, here's a novel concept, why doesn't the church just start telling the complete truth and then all the other pro-truth sites can shut down?

Bullcrap..... What "lie" makes Fanatical Islam hate America and Israel?
What "lie" by Christ made the Jews murder him?
What "lie" by Jews made Hitler commit genocide?

The Church DOES tell the truth.... It's you anti-mormons who don't.
You use a little truth to lie. While the Church focuses on the Gospel and not every nuance of history, LDS scholarship DOES tell the whole truth, and it entirely supports the 'basic/child' version by the Church. A children's book is not lying, and certainly LDS scholarship doesn't which does talk about the full history, the full facts, and even the false claims of our enemy's like you.

Your truth on the other hand, entirely misrepresents, uses a little truth to LIE, no matter if it's basic or detailed.

See, what you don't get, is there is evil and perversion in the world.
And you are in deep into it with your perversions and lies about the Church and it's members.
It doesn't matter how "good" and "truthful" a person is.... There are going to be scum like you who call them evil and liars.

Gods and dogs, indeed.

Isn't wonderful! Isn't it marvelous! The catholic church can periodically turn itsel upside down, give itself a shake, and redraw itself, because people have no memories.

Truly a wonder to behold. Lets see: corrupt history, severe child abuse, abuse within convents and within monestaries, catholic schools etc.

Truly a shake and bake.

I realize you have the mental capacity and retention ability of a gnat, but exactly what does the Catholic Church have to do with this conversation?

Crazy much?

by the way, at least they admit to their history. Can't say that about the mo's now can ya?

The anti Mormon field is already crowded.

Yeah -- I've been thinking about moving over to the anti-Quaker field --
much less crowded over there -- and they serve tasty oatmeal...

I can't speak for the creators of MormonLeaks.com, Uncle Dale seems to have his own agenda, and who knows what motivates the others on this board. But the reason why I care about this sort of thing is because I believe that the Salt Lake church is a fundamentally corrupt and evil organization, maybe a half-step above Scientology--or maybe not, because I haven't seen any evidence that Scientologists have any actual magic power.

I used to be an atheist nonbeliever who only accepted the reality of individual material particles, and I used to think that sorcery was nothing but misdirection, prestidigitation, or legerdemain. Then I spent almost a decade living in Nepal and Tibet, and I had some experiences that showed me the error of my previous views. Now I take things like Masonic and Egyptian magical rituals very, very seriously. The occult roots of Mormonism, and Joseph Smith's own admission that he couldn't tell if the voices he heard belonged to angels or demons, tell me all I need to know, even without the mind-control tactics and the racism and the misogyny and everything else. I don't know whether it's fair to call Mormonism a cult or not, but it is very clear to me (as a practicing tantric Buddhist sorceror) that there are cosmological-scale dark forces behind the Zion curtain.

There are already a lot of sites that debunk the truth-claims of Mormonism, and maybe this one will be lost in the din. But from my perspective, LDS thrives on mis- and disinformation, and as they say, sunlight is the best disinfectant. It is easy to paint anti-Mormonism as "bigotry" if the liberal media's thought police remain unaware of what Mormonism actually teaches or has taught (bcspace's silly ideas about "Mormon doctrine" notwithstanding). Gold plates in upstate New York? Quaint, though not necessarily more sinister or incredible than some of the stories in the Christian Bible. But wooden submersibles and steel swords in Mesoamerica? Becoming an Egyptian God at the top of your own pyramid, with your own celestial harem? Mary had sex with Adam to produce Jesus? Starting to get pretty wacky, and we haven't even started talking about the textual problems with the so-called Book of Abraham that almost nobody outside of mopologetic and ex-mo circles knows anything about.

The point is, the more information that is publicly accessible about the history and tenets of Mormonism, and the more clearly and concisely that information is presented, the better. I think the two most important words in the English language are "plausible deniability," and websites like this raise the profile of the Salt Lake church in the public consciousness, making it impossible for the GAs to wave their hands or publish a brochure or buy a slick TV spot and make the problem go away. Mormonism doesn't just mean clean-cut missionaries and funny stories about golden plates any more; it means the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the Anti-Banking Society, the Nauvoo Legion, and the so-called Book of Abraham. So I hope this website proves a valuable resource, a convenient compendium of resources for those who wish to explain precisely why and how anti-Mormonism is not "bigotry."

Also, as it happens I will shortly be hanging out on the beautiful beaches of Greece, enjoying the sun and maybe the occasional riot. So don't worry about me at least!

To tell the truth, I do not know what they have up their sleeves.
I think that their only real connection with the Romney thing is that
they hope the LDS publicity will drive a few searchers to their new site.

I advise that they come up with a mechanism whereby anonymous
posters can upload scanned/digitized documents directly to some
offshore server -- say, in Latvia, Nigeria, or even China. In that way
the "leaks" might be shared with the world in ways that Church
leaders cannot easily identify and preempt.

Say that I am an unhappy archivist working in some office cubbyhole
at BYU-Hawaii, and I have access to a handful of very controversial
suppressed LDS documents. How can I get their contents shared with
a wide audience, without my identity or location being discovered?

If I upload directly to MormonLeaks, I may leave a "digital paper trail"
that Church Security can detect and trace. And, even if my identity
remains a secret, the Church's investigative experts may be able to
discover me, by narrowing down the list of folks having access to
those particular documents, and then conducting interviews, or
administering polygraph tests, etc.

If we really expect to see Elder Packer's bankbook entries scanned
and shared, then MormonLeaks had better discover a foolproof
delivery system -- to protect both themselves and their supporters.
