That would be utterly retarded. What BYU ought to do, if they're concerned about it, is simply give its professors a class on social networking sites, and what they should and shouldn't go in order to maintain privacy.

That is an awesome suggestion, Cam!

Our campus has these classes for both students and faculty.

Okay, this just made me laugh. Can you picture Dan, sitting in a darkened lecture hall with some old prophet's name on it, with a thousand of his other BYU professors, all starring wide eyed at a screen that's rolling J Lo and Pitbull? All of them redfaced, sweaty, and uncomfortable for a variety of reasons?

No, BYU will hush it all up. It's not like he wrote a letter to the editor disagreeing with the Brethren or agreeing the past prophets. He may get a talking to, but actually having a class on social media for teaching staff?

Now, if the video had been "2 girls 1 cup", or DCP had visited "meatspin dot com", or lemon party there would be some leeway, as each of those titles is pretty tame. Face it, Dan, eventually we all get busted for knowingly and willifully watching naughty videos.

Agreed. I can see him being perplexed by a video titled "Pitbull gives JLo a Golden Shower," but this one left little room for confusion.

I agree that it would be stupid for BYU to terminate his employment on the basis of watching this video. Then again, I would imagine that his main concern would have to do with some kind of retaliation or vendetta from the Religious Education department. (These were the guys who put together the dossier on David Bokovoy, and who ultimately kibboshed his BYU employment.) My impression is that there is a some kind of tension between Religion and the Maxwell Institute, and that some people--like DCP and Hamblin--are seen as "too liberal" (believe it or not) and too unorthodox. So, he should probably be concerned about Hoskisson or somebody else assembling a "creepy dossier" on his online activities.

Any action should start with decision if it is porn...

Pitbull must be grateful for slavery, since it set up a chain of events for him to be up on stage with Jennifer Lopez.

Say, didn't Camus write something about hot booty shaking?

There are lots of people who don't watch porn, including many ex-Mormons. There are lots of non-Mormons who don't watch porn, and many who are unfamiliar with "sexual slang", such as the term boner. If he was genuine that "that stuff" isn't part of his make-up, it's possible (though I'm not saying this was the case) he was unfamiliar with the term as applied sexually. I decided to watch it, apparently the "long version", all 63 seconds of it, and a bulging male crotch up against J-Lo's ass isn't any compelling reason to immediately switch off, even for a Mormon.

My ex-wife, who was a convert to the Church at 21, in her mid-20s did not know what the "c-word" was. I had to explain it to her, and she insisted she'd never heard the term (of course we both came from the "purer" '50s generation).

There are a lot of crude assumptions being made here, without considering that not everyone thinks, knows or assumes the same things as "porn" and "sexual slang experts".

So at that next LDS dance it will be ok for the bumping and grinding?
