Yes, very few people try as hard at sounding smart as Droopy does. It is a heroic effort. We can't expect the same of Pahoran, so we will settle for a heroic attempt at clever.

Maybe there's a fine line between clever and mean-spirited. Or perhaps it's that some people mistake the latter for the former.

I had heard of Pahoran's reputation. Among apologists, he's said to be a brilliant destroyer of bad criticism and especially of critics. Most critics I know tell me he's all about snark and vilification without a lot of substance. I'm going with the latter. In my limited time here, all I've seen from Pahoran is personal attack and vitriol, but no substantive defense of the church or its teachings.

I love it when I'm right.

It's just that "jokes" along the lines of "All Mormons tell lies" or "Mormons are out of touch with reality" pretty much fall under the same genre as "jokes" about why Jews have big noses and how many people with hereditary suntans can hang from one tree. The only people that enjoy them are the local Imperial Wizard, the local Gauleiter, and the local Mormon-hater.
