Screw all of you. I'm stuck in the dark Satanic Mills of the Industrial Revolution this semester. It is impossible to overestimate the important role Kenneth Branagh played in passing of the Enclosure Acts...

Not even a little green and pleasant land?

I do not know why I have this thing for patriotic songs.

Oh, I hear ya. Blake's Jerusalem is the most holy of all hymns...
(my favorite version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXEqFMFFsQo)
But the macabre Olympic opening ceremony's literalizations AND the army of displaced wage slaves pouring out of Glastonbury Tor.....oy.

Re: Bill Hamblin: Angry Over New Bushman Chair?
perhaps a little known data point on the asu denial of mike quinn for a professorship in Mormon studies. land developer/home builder ira fulton known multi-gizillionaire in phoenix was behind the endowment and exerted significant pressure for asu to back off hiring mike, declaring to the wsj investigaging the situation that "quinn was a nothing person".
in subsequent years fulton continued to accumulate more millions and thought to gather even more into his barns UNTIL the housing market crashed in phoenix to the point that fulton and his family faced bankruptcy. to prevent it the LDS church purchased ,in the midst of the housing crisis, 70-80 million in undeveloped land fulton owned but was for all practical purposes worthless. one real estate analyst in phoenix commented that fulton hit a home run selling the land to the LDS church. of course the church was trying to bail fulton out from financial disaster-his tithing and support of mo'ism at asu were well known.
apparently the bailout was not sufficient and when bankruptcy was filed, fulton had tried to transfer as much of the assets he had in to family accounts. sorta like hiding assets from a spouse in a testy divorce. the judge called fulton on these shenanigans and the process went forward with some type of reorg taking place etc etc.
fulton signs for new homes are reappearing in the phx area so he climb out of his realestate mudhole, thanx in part to the church's bailout.
with all of that i am sure mike quinn would never have called ira fulton a "nothing person"
just sayin
