Huh. From 2018 to 2019, Interpreter's revenue from "Contributions and grants" increased from 359,977 to 1,177,102 and its "Other expenses" spiked from 180,478 to 1,090,769 -- I suppose this may have been related to producing "The Witnesses"?

I hinted at something earlier - or perhaps on the other thread - about Robert Boylan: that I had thought, until very recently, that he was not well known as an LDS apologist, at least in critical circles. Nobody said yea or nay, so I'm going to ask:

Can someone please tell me how well known he was before a few weeks ago, and what kind of reputation he had.

I'm just curious if I somehow completely missed him, while everyone else knew all about him.

I did not know about Mike Parker or Robert Boylan. These guys were only known to people who are very deep into Mormon apologetics. Former FAIR members and the like.
Apparently Boylan is Deznat.
That link apparently does not work. https://old.reddit.com/r/Mormon/comment ... overup_of/

Shades, all the work you have done through the years with this message board, and the very powerful and positive atta boys given tonight shows how very important this place is to keep Mormons straight and when they don't, this board will hold them to account since their own pathetic leaders won't. You have every right to be proud of your magnificent contribution to civilization with this incredible information gathering and sharing machine of a message board.
Aww, . . . you're entirely too kind to me. :-) Yet the fact remains that it's all of you, the users, who post the quality content here, not me.

Huh! Boylan was enthusiastically hash-tagging DezNat! I did not know that. That’s not a good look.

I don't think that there has been a single peep from anyone in the Mopologists' camp over this podcast, which is very telling. When the Mopologists think that they can "control the narrative," they won't shut up, but when they are caught red-handed, their tendency is to fall back on stone-cold silence. I think it's fair to interpret their lack of response as a tacit admission of guilt.

And the bit about Boylan being connected to DezNat? That *is* very troubling. My understanding is that DezNat is basically a Mormon version of the Neo-Nazi/White Supremacist movement (please correct me if I'm wrong about that). Is it ironic--or fitting--that DCP and the Interpreter crowd would be in league with somebody that publicly embraces this sort of thing?

I don’t know if it’s that surprising. Dowsin’ Dan cooled his heels with William “Porter Rockwell” Schryver often enough that the two could be considered good friends. Additionally, Mopologists have waged passionate defenses of Mormonism and slavery, for instance:
While Mormon scripture taught against slavery, it also taught the importance of upholding the law. Both Joseph Smith and Brigham Young stated that the Mormons were not abolitionists.
-_-

The mopologists speak out of both sides of their mouths, and since we know what they know with regard to Mormon doctrine, any impassioned claims of egalitarianism is always accompanied with a wink and a nod on their part.

Yes, that was quite the revelation. Boylan's involvement with DezNat certainly deserves its own thread.

From Wikipedia:
Contributors to media outlets The Daily Beast and The Daily Utah Chronicle have described DezNat as an extremist alt-right, white nationalist movement,[2][3][4] while those at The Guardian consider the group right-wing with elements of the alt-right and white nationalism.[5]

Some members of the DezNat community wish to recreate the historical State of Deseret, which the LDS Church declared in the 1840s to cover modern-day Utah and parts of adjacent states, as well as the secession of a theocratic Mormon state. Some DezNat commentators have suggested this should be a white ethnostate. Some have also used neo-Nazi and far-right accelerationist imagery.[5]

Robert Boylan had a DezNat Twitter account for over FIVE YEARS:

Ctrl + f ‘Boylan’ and it’ll pop up.

This is who the mopologists are.
