Holland sure loved to use violent gun imagery in his speeches. I love when Holland threatened to put a bullet in the Bristol mission like a wounded horse. He even blamed the missionaries for the plummeting numbers. It’s the classic corporate deflection that when the product isn't moving off the shelves, don’t blame the product, blame the delivery boys.

An acquaintance who did a summer internship at the Smith family home and Red Brick Store in Nauvoo (owned by CofC). Holland apparently showed up one day unannounced and sent in his lackey to tell the site director to remove everyone from the premises, including staff, so he could have the place to himself to do whatever he wanted. I think there was pushback, and he was told to wait until they could at least let tours wrap up, but he got his way. I was still kind of in when I heard that story, and definitely felt super disappointed because "Like a Broken Vessel" meant a lot to me. But nah. “F” that guy. He hasn't got a caring bone in his body.

I am old!! Holland was the president when I graduated BYU. I went to a Presidents reception when I graduated and my dad and I shook his hand and then we went to get our punch and sugar cookie. My dad turned to me and said, "that is a very bad man." I was offended at the time, but a few year later my father passed away. He left me with those words of truth and passed on to me his ability to judge a man by your gut feeling. I have seen dad's "prophesy" come true over the years.

Holland wormed his way into being buddies with the owner of the company and would show up at random times at the place unannounced and one day was there and got into a screaming match with a forklift driver who had accidently backed into Holland's car and broke the taillight. My friend told me his brother was there and acting as boss while the real boss was gone and as a (then) ride-or-die TBM could not believe the racist vitriol flowing from Holland's mouth. He attempted to intervene and Holland turned on him and backed him into a corner within an inch of his face and said something along the lines of "I don't know why I'm still being nice to you". Needless to say within hours both the forklift driver and my friend's brother were fired and when the guy realized most of his own family would or could not believe what Elder Holland was like, he moved out of Utah and cut all ties, he still keeps in contact with his brother (who left about the same time for other reasons). My friend told me that 100% he believes most of the Big 15 (14 now) are clinical psychopaths and that he is convinced the only normal functioning humans among them are Eyring, Gong, and Stevenson.
