From my interaction with that board I have concluded that there are a lot of "tribal knowledge" or better "the unwritten order of things" rules regarding etiquette in that bailiwick. Then again I am in no way a trained academic debater and may have been just violating some "understood" rules.

Either way the only reason I kept repeating what I felt was the implication, was in defense of my opinion. Which is apparently sufficient for getting me thread banned without a warning and without seeing said offense in the guideline's list of offenses.

You have got to be kidding me...................

Altersteve is now saying on the thread (in response to Cinepro):
Probably the second, but I realize the flaws with that statement now. Ultimately, all I was trying to point out is that membership statistics (whether in Mongolia or worldwide) cannot be used to determine the truthfulness of the Church or the Book of Mormon. Saying, "The Church is true because it has 14 million members" is a fallacious statement; the correct thing to say is that "The Church has 14 million members because it's true."

He makes the concession that the statistics prove nothing and then contradicts himself. Chewbacca is a wookie. Look at the monkey. Kerplow!

O, that I were an angel that I could reply to a ridiculous assertion:

And by logical extension: The 7th Day Adventist Church has 17 million members in the same time frame because it is "more true".

They really need to change the name of that site. There is no dialog nor discussion that is not the group telling itself how great and relevant it is.

I get in a thread and note that it is the worst kind of academic navel gazing imaginable as it is a topic that is not even remotely provable. Anything said in regards to the topic is pure speculation.

I then point out to an anointed that his English does not parse and ask him to support his assertion. I was fairly polite the whole time but I did label the topic an exercise of mental masturbation.

Bam.... Full on banned and site banned. That will take me all of 2 minutes to bypass. But is tedious from my phone. I will get on tonight and let them know what I think.

Boy they are an insular group of thin skins over there.

That particular metaphor was essential to your argument, was it?
Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Normally this thread is about the worst of MAD, but here is one of the better quips in a while. Why can't we have katherine the great post here?

and Zerinus's response:

I love Katherine the Great. Are you banned from MDD? If not, PM her and invite her over.

Would be nice to have more TBM LDS post here. I keep recommending it. This is where it's at if you want some action in terms of opposition.

Maybe you could speak to her? She would be a great addition to MDB. :-)
