The funny thing is I actually respect Ms. Jack and her posting style... Even if it means attacking me personally. I simply take exception to her religious inclinations.

What I find interesting is how she responds to it when she feels under duress.

Doctor CamNC4Me,

Allow me, my good friend -- to give you a little suggestion.

Slam down 6 drinks in a row and then wait 10 minutes before you post.

I look forward to hearing your wisdom when your mind is soaked in alcohol. Jesus, you are soooo intelligent and the ladies just love you to death.

Would you like further advice, kind sir?

A MDB member of this community was clearly wronged by this and I, for one, take a firm stand along side him.

Peace,

Ceeboo, what course of action would you take upon learning of an incredibly nasty thing that one poster decided to say to another poster via PM? Do you think that the normative censure by members would be less effective than allowing such actions to go unchecked?

My concern would be that abusive behavior via PMs be stopped in its tracks and I would rather see my fellow board members chime in that such abuse is unacceptable, than to have Droopy show up with an assault weapon and set things to right.

I am also saddened to see people turn on one another. Our common humanity is more important than any petty bickering. Thanks for listening.

Hello Good Sir!

I think I'll take your advice.

Crap. Do I have to wait the ten minutes, though?

so. You probably don't have the first clue concerning me.

You're giving yourself too much credit here. I only named you and BCSpace as part of the latest new comers that were going to make it even more impossible to have a NOM board of friends. Historically, the list I gave has always had a strong and vocal opposing view to the NOM's point of view. That was my intended point.

Indeed you don't have much of an idea of me at all. You have merely assumed my position. Where have I ever provided a strong and vocal opposing view to the NOM's point of view? And its good to know you had already assumed, before even paying much attention at all to what I said, that I was going to cause that board problems. It surely had nothing to do with your agenda, nor your vendetta against Peterson. Whatever. I doubt you can even own up to any of it.

At least Nehor did and BCSpace would have contributed to a milder shades board. The last thing we needed was for a yappidy Dan lap poodle.

Oh brother. I expressly condemned your posting at Dan in that thread at the Cafeteria because your posting seemed genuinely hostile. I think that type of garbage was much more suited to this joint than that. For me it has nothing to do with defending Dan as it has to do with appealing to decency in hopes people will get over their pettiness so these boards, now this one in particular, can move on not getting stuck in the mire of hostility.

Ah well, I tried.

sock puppet wrote:Yes, if we'd all just leave Dan to his pompousness.

But let's look at that 'leave 'em alone' sentiment. I barely could attend two weeks of Mormon meetings in a row as an adult without hearing mention of the inactives, apostates and gentiles. The Mormon church does not leave inactives, apostates and gentiles alone, but poor Danny Boy should be left alone, free to write and issue his tripe from NAMIRS. No one should ever be able to mention him, quote him, or even quote someone else if Dan is mentioned in that third party quote.

Then you obviously have misplaced hostility, SP. I'm sorry you feel so offended by the Church. But Dan is not the church--neither are other particular LDS folks. They did nothing to you. Stop pouting.

stem, here for your edifice is a nursery rhyme that must have eluded you during your childhood:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

Dan has suffered some irreparable injuries to his reputation by being a mopologetic hack. Nice to see you are one of the king's men, though.

You sure whine a lot. Ah well.

Jersey Girl wrote:What every little thing are you referring to, stem? I dunno about anyone else, but I challenged his dragging his baggage onto the Cafeteria, onto MD&D and then claming that he didn't want to be the focus of attention. That and the fact that his choices led to the demise of a new board that my friend Liz created.

That's silly to put all the blame on him. Of course all he did was call out what he felt was an unfair characterization of him and request a reference. After that it went down the tubes because others perceived poor intentions from him. If no one said anything in that thread except saying, "Yes, Wheat said that. Here's the link:" Then there would be no long thread whining about him over there.

What do you mean he's not even here to respond? He was responding to this on the Cafeteria just prior to it being taken offline. Don't make it sound like he has no voice or options.

My point is why spend so much time whining about him here? He's not here to respond. Sure he can see the whining about him if he so chooses. Of course we already know that he didn't know of the Scratch episode for a month, so its not like he's spending time reading here. Its obvious many here just can't let things go and hold a great deal of personal hostility for him and many others. Just drop it already.

Boy, are you naïve.

only here would I get a "boy, are you naïve" when I take people at their word. Well take a Mormon at his/her word.

The problem isn't taking someone at their word. The problem is taking someone at their word when their past history totally contradicts their word. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Ignoring that reality makes you naïve anywhere.
