I am pondering right now, but do not want to pontificate to you all..
We all could try and be more proactive and less reactive..TRUE
Idealism and Pragmatism can work well together.
WE must reach out to each other and join hands in a song ...we are the world.
Peace can ours for a mere 10% of your brain...We can be free of fear when we fear no more.

Hi, new guy here. I have a question.
Who is Dr. Peterson?
And yes I TRIED to read through all the replies to this thread but somewhere along the way I woke up a slight pain and some keyboard shaped red spots on my forehead.
Thanks in advance.

Dr. Peterson is a wonderful fellow with a wide international circle of friends who teaches Arabic and Islamic studies at Brigham Young University, founded and directs the Middle Eastern Texts Initiative, edits the FARMS Review, and helps to direct what is now called the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship.

Thank you.
Follow up questions.
So you are not a real Dr.?
Why do you call yourself Dr. Perterson?
Is that some board thing that people with Doctorates do here?
If so, you should probably all refer to me as Dr. as well.
But please don't call me Dr. Moriancumr, I'm not a formal guy, and don't call me Jared either, cause I have hated that name ever since that subway dude got famous. How about Dr. Brother? Yes I like it.
Thanks,
Dr. Brother

At universities, if a professor has a doctorate, they are referred to as Dr. _____. That's pretty common protocol.

He has a PhD. That's a real doctorate.
We have several who could be called Dr. here.
Dr Tarski
Dr Dude
Dr Peterson
Dr Blixa
Dr Sajer
and now we have Dr. Brother and others too, I'm sure.
We've a few that could put Juris Doctorate behind their nicknames too. Skippy, Crock, Addicto...
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I know that happens. I have been to a few Universities. I have even attended four or five of them. And, in the ones in the US at least, some professors with doctorates were referred to as Dr.s.
But this isn't a University, it's a bulletin board.
That's why it seemed so odd.

I didn't say, as you well know, that a PhD wasn't a real Doctorate.
The rest of your post just serves to illustrate the point I was making. WHy does he, and a bunch of you as well, refer to him as Dr. when you do not do that for anyone on here BUT him.
Well OK Dr. Shades, but I assume that is as much of a joke as my asking to be referred to as Dr. Brother. ;-)
p.s. I do not have a Ph.D. I have a J.D. In the real world, I am only referred to as Dr. [ ] in Germany.
