Apology accepted. ;)
Thank you.
liz3564 wrote:I am curious about you, J-bug. You mention that you belong to a "pure" line of the LDS Church. What, exactly do you mean by that?
I'm at a bit of a loss because I don't recall making that exact claim. As far as the LDS Church goes I wouldn't know what kind of a line I would be "pure" in. What I do know about my geneology is that I am through Joseph's line. Joseph who was sold into Egypt, that is. As far as I can tell, I am not a descendent of Joseph Smith.

I was intentionally unclear as I really prefer to keep personal details to a minimum. I don't like being stereotyped. I am not a leader in any off-shoot community and I do attend weekly services in the mainstream LDS church with my family.

Thanks, I'll remember that.

That being said, I am, what most people consider, a very "liberal" Mormon. I have very distinct ideas, and do not believe that all of the LDS doctrine is correct. I believe that there are a lot of "ideas of men" that have been mixed in. I have problems with a lot of things that Brigham Young spoke of, have disdain for polygamy, and I also feel that sometimes, members overall, can be very judgmental of others, which is, I believe the opposite of what Christ taught. Therefore, I tend to make friends and enemies on both sides of the aisle here. LOL
It's very likely I stand to rock your boat pretty hard. Much of what you say here I can relate to on the surface. However, even with just this cursory glimpse your intent seems to be to pull the church further away from its roots to better please the world. That makes you my fiercest mortal enemy.

I am probably going to end up a significant temptation to have the plug pulled on my participation here. I hope you are totally solid on your principles, if so it shall serve you well.

I think it came up in a Google search or something.
I was on MADB about a year or so ago. I didn't last very long there. You can find posts there in their archives I'm sure. I think my username was simply jbug there without the hyphen.
