The most annoying part of it all were the former Mormon catholic posters who were always negative toward the LDS church. I never considered these poor souls to be catholic at all because their spirit was filled with contempt. They lacked peace of others. Likewise for the poor catholics who would post constant negatives about the LDS church.
I was shocked that so much negativity was tolerated toward other faiths. It was very uncatholic. And this is why I call it a taliban site.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Head on over to the catholic taliban site and post some positives about the LDS church and see what happens. You will receive a slew of negatives and a very disharmonic spirit from the so called Mormon hating catholics, ie, from the taliban.
Now of course, the catholics that I know have no such spirit. They are very tolerant of other faiths. And a pleasure to know and have as friends.

I would like to admit that a huge contribution to my positive experience at Mass is related to my inverse feelings about the Mormon church. The fact that I was standing (and sitting and kneeling) in this room without any obligation to any set belief or structure caused me to focus on worship all by itself. I could sit calmly in deep introspection.
I had no voice in my head telling me what the proper mode of worship was. There was no thought control (as stated by Pink Floyd). Freedom of the mind is what I yearn for these days. The thought of a TRI makes me ill.
perhaps I should share a slightly alternate view from what has been offered thus far in this thread.
The purpose of the Catholic Mass is NOT: 1. To offer entertainment to the people who attend 2. To be kept awake by a comedic Priest 3. To decide what type of worship you prefer 4. To be pleasing to the human eyes 5. To collect candy for children 6. ????? 7. ????? 8. ????? 9-765. etc, etc
The Catholic Mass is entirely cemented with and sorrounded by the Holy Eucharist (The Body and Blood of Jesus Christ). From the beginning of the Mass (reading/teachings from the Old Testament) followed by the time when Jesus walked among us (readings/teachings of the New Testament), followed by the Last Supper (Consecration of the Holy Communion), ALL OF THIS....... leading to the very reason we gather in the pews. That is to offer THANKS to the LORD for paying our debts, cleaning our slates, and offering us forgiveness, so that we might GO IN PEACE and offer the very same to all.
Jesus Christ (who can be seen on the cross by all who are present, and Lovingly stands in our place) is at the very center of the Catholic Mass and it is Jesus Christ that we are there to offer our thanks for His ultimate sacrifice, His gift of grace freely given, His forgiveness, His enormous example of Love, and His rising from the dead that we celebrate.
Just my take.
Peace, Ceeboo

Ceeboo, you've been hanging out with Mormons too long because now you are starting to sound like them!

SERIOUSLY?!?!
Dude, that post about what Catholic Mass is and isn't sounds EXACTLY like the kind of response mopologists and TBM's give when someone criticizes how boring an LDS sacrament meeting is.
Just sayin'... I for one have never been bored at a Catholic Mass.

While I believe that most people readily agree with you, I admit that is not what I found in my experience. The best way I can describe it is that I felt at home - a refuge from the storm. I thank the folks of the local parish for providing the unintentional benefit to a stranger in need.

I wasn't trying (perhaps I failed?) to argue if a Catholic Mass is or is not boring, I was simply (because of many of the recent posts in the thread) trying to offer my opinion as to what Catholic Mass is all about.

Hey quark,
I understand.
As my last post suggests, I was just offering my perspective (perhaps different than that of others posting in the thread) from my chair in the audience.
