Heck, for all one knows, if Joseph Smith DID do some horrible things, that might be why God did not do some miracle to save him from the mob. Who knows?

Have we helped you understand that, contrary to what you state in the OP, people are not leaving the church because they are shocked to learn that polygamy was practiced at all, but because of specific details about polygamy which are not generally taught or even acknowledged by the LDS church?

Joseph apparently entertained visitors from Kolob on regular basis. He didn't think it was stupid.

But we also have first and second hand evidence from many of these wives describing said boning. That's much more evidence than you typically get for most married couples that boning has occurred.

Because it was doctrine in BY's time that you'd get a greater kingdom by being sealed to more prominent members. That's why many men were sealed as sons to BY, even though they were not related.
