In an unexpected though clearly well thought-out change in direction, C. Daniel Peterson announced at 2 a.m. Christmas Day that enough focus groups concluded the Witnesses film is a laugher. So C. Daniel turned production over to Studio C at BYU to make Witnesses into a religious comedy. Studio C Director I. P. Freely commented he was sure only a few changes needed to be made to the movie to make it a sure "howler" which should go viral if released on the church website and on YouTube simultaneously.
New cast members will include all of the apostles who will have the main scene of hammering out the tin plates while chanting "Hi ho, Hi ho..." Peterson will join the cast as burly member of the gang trying to steal the plates from Joseph Smith dressed in a bunny rabbit costume. Director Freely says the action will be a laugh a minute for the 90 minute feature film. Why the change? Peterson simply stated, "I know when to fold me and besides I have not had a good laugh since the FARMS days."
