Re: A Meltdown of Epic Proportions
Jersey Girl asked me a question a while back and I didn't answer because I thought Liz had stress and concerns and wanted the thread to die. Since that doesn't appear to be the case I'm going to comment..obviously my perspective.
1) The board had a key fault...it allowed negative comments from posters on there about posters here. I'm not going to go into the reasons why.
2) Scratch, DCP the mole are not at fault. If the board had nothing to hide..then there should be no problem for anyone on the outside seeing what is said there.
3) DCP in my opinion based on what I've read in this thread was justified in being pissed off. The response to his suggestion/argument that critics don't have problems with lack of financial disclosure and that Harmony isn't a mainstream Mormon was not to control the discussion by warning him to stay on topic. He was on topic. The response was to either argue why she was mainstream or to acknowledge she wasn't and how that was still relevant to arguing for financial disclosure. For DCP to then be accused of not being used to the rough and tumble of message boards when the whole idea of THAT message board was to take out the rough and tumble..and not allow him to argue a legitimate argument ..I can see how that could be an irritating comment.
To Jersey Girl : the reason I said that if you want to help Liz is to not keep defending it, is because all those who were defending it were not acknowledging and/or taking responsibility for what the real problems were and their defenses were inappropriately argued.

Re: A Meltdown of Epic Proportions
I have never said that I ran things perfectly on Cafeteria, or that there weren't problems. I also publicly apologized for the derogatory statements.
But the fact remains that if Scratch had not started this thread to being with...and if he had thought to come to me privately about concerns regarding the site to begin with rather than publicizing it, none of this would have happened.
An apology is probably too much to ask for, but there it is.
Again...this is all moot since the board is dead.

I guess I'm having a hard time seeing it from your or that board's perspective. It seems to me that whatever was said on there shouldn't have had any problem being revealed on here...but maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks for your interesting remarks, marg. As I've said: for what are perhaps rather idiosyncratic reasons, I somewhat enjoyed Liz's board. I was glad that I was able to share my appreciation of it with others here prior to its demise. As for me coming to Liz 'privately' with 'concerns': well, the truth is that I didn't really have any "concerns" per se.

It wasn't a matter of whether or not whatever was said could be revealed here. That really wasn't the point. It was a private board. After I apologized publicly for my comments, everyone was aware that this was a private board, and no one seemed to have a problem with that. But Scratch just had to keep either circumventing my security himself, or pumping other members of my board for information because he just couldn't leave it alone.
I am not saying that I didn't make mistakes. But for Scratch to say that he is completely innocent in all of this just isn't right.

I'm not quite sure what I'm being accused of.... But, yes: it's true that I'm completely innocent.

You enjoy, and are quite good at...stirring up drama, and going to great lengths to annoy DCP.
Unfortunately, soemtimes, as in this case, there is collateral damage. My feelings being hurt and my board being taken down because of it devlolving into a board war was that damage.
The fact that you refuse to see that you played a part in this is sad, but doesn't really surprise me.

Why do you think that because you decide it's private anyone outside should respect that? Did you have a policy that no one outside the board could be mention derogatorily? Why was anyone outside the board supposed to respect your wishes..when the board itself had nothing in place to respect the rights of those outside it? Basic stuff which we deal with on here..ie pm's should not be discussed because context is removed and it's one sided, was sanctioned on there.
You and others keep blaming others..and I just don't see a legitimate argument for that.
My feelings being hurt and my board being taken down because of it devlolving into a board war was that damage.
Your feelings being hurt? Did you think about how other people's feelings might get hurt..if they were discussed on there? And now you are blaming others for taking it down when it was your choice?
As far as board wars go...I fail to see the problem..there was a large percentage of active posters from here there..so how could there be much of a board war.

You've got it all wrong, Liz: I've always been your biggest supporter. Even now, my hope is that you'll resurrect The Cafeteria in all its glory. Restore all those old threads, including the one where Ray A posted a screen cap of somebody's private message.

Liz, I thought you were sick. Jersey Girl was in here guilt-tripping people for exacerbating your symptoms. Are you feeling better, now? Cuz if so, I have a real snarky remark I want to make on this thread, but I don't want to send you to hospital.
