I guess like Plutarch says, I am just a damn hypocrite.

Jason, you're not a hypocrite. Maybe you're a hypocrite in Plutarch's eyes, but who cares? His arguement in baseless. He thinks that anyone who uses an alias is a hypocrite(or, excuse me, Plutarch, a coward), so that pretty much covers any person who participates on 90% of the message boards on the Internet, including himself!

There is nothing wrong with asking questions and dialoging with others having the same concerns. Don't let blow-hards like Plutarch and Coggins bully you. I have questions and opinions as well, and am a faithful member of the Church who is not going anywhere, either.

And no, I don't think I'm a hypocrite.

I agree with Harmony, Loran. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

What I find hypocritical is people who trash this board, the people on it, and yet still continue to participate.

May I add my amen. There is nothing inherently hypocritical about posting anonymously. There are many reasons to post anonymously, simple personality differences for one thing, not everyone craves to have his name up in lights. And not everyone wishes to invite the self-righteous judgments of the TBMs in their personal lives. I'd rather Plutarch think me a hypocrite than my actual family rising up in anger against me and judging me to be an enemy of God.

Plutarch has a applied an all together false definition of the word. The difference between Jason and Plutarch, et al., is that Jason is seeking truth while Plutarch is defending "his" truth, and the best defense he can find is to attack anyone who strays from his truth or who publicly takes issue with his truth. His position is tenuous and his fear is palpable. There is no reason for Jason, Liz, Harmony, TD, or any other member posting anonymously to give him the least heed.

I'm not talking perjury. I'm talking ethics.

OK. Where can I look up those ethics which control the alteration of an unsworn statement to replace a person's title but without altering any of the substance? Are they in writing someplace?

I'm not talking legally enforceable. I'm talking simple ethics. A statement made with God as witness is sworn, whether notarized or not. Are you saying the church is justified in taking the lower road as long as they can get away with it legally?

I've worked with dozens of lawyers in my life. Fortunately, many have an innate sense of ethics that would prevent them from tampering with affidavits. Hopefully there is something written in a book someplace that will keep you from tampering with affidavits, given your inner moral vacuum.
