Actually, it may be something more along the lines of the Democratic National Convention this year, if all the usual social issue interest groups show up. But that's for another thread.

Right, I'll expect another thread shortly. I hope there will be rhyming!

I'm not entirely certain. Yet, apparently they all have nipple clamps, suffer from depression, and have an abundant supply of plastic bananas.

Sheesh, is there a rule that I can't hyphenate??? I like it better hyphenated for some reason...

Geez. Ex-Mo's.

I'm so confused! :)

Yes, I know....

Here is Coggin's remark with his italicized portion bolded.

"Uh, what are Ex-mos Liberals?"

See the "mos" that he italicized?

Here is my remark with bold:

"Geez. Ex-Mo's"

It's not about the hypen.

I'll tell you what Coggins, you sure do have your mind in the gutter quite a bit...

I am within 23 ft of almost all of that stuff Moniker....you bring the popcorn and I'll grab my Star Wars DVDs. Movie Marathon and nipple clamps! O yeah!

Thanks, Cogs. *HUGS* Just so you don't feel completely guilty, you're not the only one who has driven me to profanity on the board. Bob Crockett, Boaz a.k.a. PP, Infymus, and Marg have all driven me to profanity at some point as well. LOL

Bob and Infy? Well, at least your an equal opportunity profaner.

I do try! LOL

Truth be told, I just don't like bullying happening from either side of the aisle. The reason that BC and I get along even though we often disagree is that we can speak to each other in a respectful, civil manner. Charity and I can as well.

Edited to add---The scary thing is, Cogs, I think that you and I AGREE more than we DISAGREE on the actual issues here. I look forward to your responses to some of my thoughts on positive ideas, and to your ideas as well. 'Night! :)

I was confused why Coggins asked about it .... :)

I wrote Ex-Mos

This is such a fun conversation! I promised Shades I wouldn't derail anymore.... so....

Hmm... I imagine the pressure with child rearing is very stressful on BOTH the males and females in the LDS Church. Also that so many seem to be in school and have young families at such a tender age could certainly be stressful.

I'm feeling a bit romantic (nipple clamps and plastic bananas have that effect on the ladies!) so I'd prefer The Notebook, s'il vous plait.

Pressures to be perfect, in the culture

Post by _ktallamigo »

Of course, in my post, I was exaggerating for effect. But the pressure is there, just the same. May I also add that many of these pressures I have felt from my TBM family members and TBM in-laws, as well as friends and the church culture at large.

Pressures on men

Post by _ktallamigo »

I can only speak to my own experience. What I wrote in my previous post - these are my experiences, opinions and perceptions - I'm not stating these as facts or have any research and statistics to support my "findings."

I really can't speak to the pressures placed on Mormon men, since I am not a man and haven't had that experience - I don't attend priesthood meeting. I don't know what is said to men in priesthood meetings everyweek and I don't know what social/cultural expectations are for them within Mormon society.

If, however, unreasonable expectations for perfection are placed on men as well, or if men perceive that these expectations are placed upon them, they might feel frustrated and perhaps depressed as well.

Yea....I would just ignore him. 'He speaks, yet he says nothing!' :-) You've heard of someone that likes to "hear himself talk"? Well, Coggins likes to read himself talk. I think he must be taking a creative writing class or something because much of what he writes reminds me of those assignments where you are suppose to use as many adjectives as you can come up with and just write them whether they make sense or not!

....and....truthfully, he hasn't a clue as to why women in the LDS Church have such a high rate of depression or why they feel the stress that they quite obviously do. He doesn't know at all. He has shown over and over again that compassion isn't part of his make-up. It's rather surprising to me actually. Most people I know that are in recovery are quite compassionate. Coggins is just always so pi**ed off. I don't get it.

By the way....I remember well, the Relief Society meeting where we were admonished to not work outside of the home. I also remember the damage control that went on after by Church Leaders as they tried to explain what was 'really meant' by that 'revelation' as mothers Church wide tried to decide whether they should quit their jobs so that they could be deemed 'faithful'.

Now, if your rant is quite finished, care to engage any of the substantive points I made?

Rant? LOL! You call that a 'rant'? Just who is that does the 'ranting' around here, hmmm?

Oh, that's too funny! ;-)

Coggins, if you would post something that had any substance, I may consider "engaging"....as you call it. All I ever read from you is negative attacks and constant bickering. So....not interested.
