Re: unban Jersey Girl
I have to go with H on this. Jersey Girl brings a lot of drama. No one can make a molehill into a mountain like Jersey Girl can. If she threatened to take the board down, she can save the drama for her mama.
I'm the apostate your bishop warned you about.

We knew that before Darrick's very first post here. I wanted Darrick out of here. Shades used the same reasoning that EA is using and felt that Darrick should be allowed to post.
Since I favor a prior ban on Darrick, or anyone, assuming credible evidence of genuinely threatening behavior, I think this misrpresents my position on the matter. I'm referring to his posting behavior on the board once it has been determined that he is allowed to post. Crazy is allowed. Serious threats are not. Darrick got banned, and was going to get banned with or without LDST's thread, because of serious threats, not crazy.
Now, Jersey Girl is being cut off from a community that she has been a part of and contributed to for as long as the board has been running because she demanded that something be done about a person who was a KNOWN threat to people in real life.
I think that misrepresents what is going on pretty significantly. Surely you see the difference between demanding that something be done and demanding that something be done in 15 minutes - despite being told that it is being taken seriously and to wait for response - or legal action will be taken, then taking steps towards that legal action that threaten the board's existence.

Something should have been done a year ago.

LDST posted in a thread and told me in chat he wishes... What again LDST?
As for the board getting infected, it was most likely done by either a Poster to stir up drama before GC, or some Mormon guy, I'd like to think it was the first.

Yikes. Sounds like the whole thing has been one unpleasant roll in the mud.
Sorry to hear it.

Since Mods are paying attention to this thread, can one of you explain why this neon green tool edited out a name of a guy who posted his own name in thread titles?
I'd ask Scottie, but he only shows up annually to do something stupid and answer a question no asked before heading back to the shallow end of the pool.

Re: unban Jersey Girl
I apologize that I haven't been able to weigh in on this matter yet. Ever since the crack of dawn last Friday I've been afforded extremely little Internet time, and this state of affairs won't correct itself until at least Saturday, maybe even Monday.
In the meantime, you can all rest easy knowing that I decided to break character and violate my core principles by perma-banning (for now) a longtime poster for no reason whatsoever. Be assured that I took the action I did without any forethought at all. Rest easy knowing that I didn't agonize over the correct course of action for both the board itself and for the good of all the other posters here. Be at ease knowing that I utterly forgot that Jersey Girl is an Internet friend of mine from way back. You can also be satisfied that I neither consulted with my other moderators nor weighed each of their input with extreme gravity. You can also sleep easy knowing that I didn't spend way too much time during our recent "break" mentally agonizing over what to do about all this.
If you've been reading and/or participating here for any length of time, perhaps I have built up a certain "track record" in your mind regarding the way I moderate. Rest assured that whatever my track record is, I suddenly decided to go against it 180° because I woke up one morning and flipped a coin, since that's so much in character for me.
In short, yes, you're correct; Jersey Girl is pure as the driven snow while Dr. Shades is a nasty, arrogant bastard who routinely bans random people for no reason whatsoever, as you've all seen time and time again.
Ahh, customer satisfaction. It's what I live for.

Okay.
Now I am really sorry that I weighed in on this issue without doing more research. Like Dr. Scratch, my access to the internet is currently severely restricted, so I did no homework on the issue.
IMHO, Dr. Shades should not assume that the simple act of expressing support for Jersey Girl's re-instatement to the board constitutes questioning of his judgment or management style, or reflects negatively in any way on his moderation of the board.
