The real TBMs would never come here because their faith would never allow it, and the ones who do post are only marginal Mormons at best (nothing wrong with that, I guess... better that they aren't taking it too seriously).

I'm marginal? Ouch.

Guess I need to start bearing testimony in every thread until that complaint is snuffed out.

Marginal only because you come to place that you're not supposed to be coming to. A "good" Mormon would never come here. Obedience, remember?

It was actually a backhanded compliment to the Mormons that come here, whether they see it that way or not.

Dang, I must have skipped that Sunday School Lesson. How did I convince others that I'm a 'good' Mormon. Must be the dazzling good looks. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well, I for one always expect different results when I flip the same coin or roll the same die. It certainly doesn't help my insanity when experience proves right the fact that often repeating the same process will produce different results. I guess quantum mechanics is proof that smart humans are indeed insane. No matter. I think insanicty provides for the greatest happiness, or at least it can.

Are you being serious? (Not about the good looks... although you are simply stunning if your avatar has anything to say about it).

You're not supposed to be reading "anti" material and you know it. Shame on you. I hope you haven't been taking the sacrament lately, mister... I mean, brother.

This is anti material? Huh....never noticed.

Ah, so here is where it is written. But did you first say, Some Schmo says?

I am sorry you are so embittered. I know of LDS who have fallen away, and then found their way back. I will hope that happens to you.

You are my hero, Schmo. I bow to your infinite wisdom.

Even for a brief period of about two weeks when I thought I would actually be able to influence other people to adopt rational (in my opinion) positions, I was doing it for my own sake and not some "larger" purpose.

But it's a lot more fun to shed the illusion of responsibility and just say what you think; if someone likes it, good. If someone doesn't, I really don't care. I don't think the Church is what it purports to be, but why would I want to force everyone to think the same way? You can certainly be very happy thinking of yourself as a TBM; I know I was.

And this board is the perfect place to be if you want to say what you really think, no matter who you are. It applies to everyone equally. I certainly don't think it should make its goal to appease and avoid offending apologists. I'm sure the mere existence of people who think the church is a fraud offends them, but I don't feel like doing myself in just yet.

:)

Glad you decided to give our board a try.

I'm a Mod here, so PM me if you need any assistance.

May I ask what inspired you to join us?

Most of the MAD folk (especially Juliann), has given this board a pretty rough review.

I'm glad you decided to post here because I lost your email address, and have changed IP's and email addresses.

Send me a PM if you want to chat sometime.

I came over because I heard that one of my best friends was getting a hard time overe here. I registered to see if I could be of any help and then my life fell in on me for a while, and by the time I got to actually post that little flurry was over. It is good to see some old acquaintances and I will probably be here a little. But not much. Seems I have been moved up a little in the apologetics ranks and am getting more involved with real apologetics. I consider message boards sort of practice games. And this means no disrespect. But what I see on message boards is two sides. No one changes jerseys at half time and joins the other team.

Thanks to all of you for the welcome.

And yes, I was being sarcastic. Throw it at me. I am not going to crumble and fall.

Welcome to the MDb Charity. The exer crowd can be a little rough here. It is good to see another pro-lds poster here. We need more posters like you on this board. They will give you a grace period because you are a valued poster. But then it could get a little more difficult. I just try to be understanding of their attitude.

When you say "valued poster," I hope you haven't gotten the impression that some posters are considered more welcome or valued than others. On MormonDiscussions, everyone is both welcome and valued.

But what is this "it could get a little more difficult" and "understanding of their attitude" of which you speak?

Charity comes to the board and experiences a brief honeymoon with the posters. When the honeymoon is over, they will begin to give her a more difficult time. The posters who post here surely consider charity a valued poster. It may not be official board policy but for the posters, she is a welcomed poster because of her involvement on MAAD.

Understanding of their attitude refers to the fact that some posters do have a chip on their shoulder about MAAD. Hence, their attitude needs to be understood and not judged.

But you are right, officially we are all valued by Keene and you, Dr. Shades. :=)
