Yeah, that is interesting. You undoubtedly know a lot more about this stuff than I do. Several years ago I forked out for a Canon GL1 because I had some projects I wanted to do with it, and to have a really nice video camera for family things. Problem is, it's big enough I don't like lugging it around on family things, and the projects pretty much got left behind too. Now the firewire output on it is toast so I can record with it but have to borrow a cheap minidv camcorder from someone else to read the tapes in. Arg, what a bother.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

That sucks about your GL1. I have a GL2 in addition to my high-definition XH-A1. I love the GL2 and use it with my steadicam. My other camera is too damn heavy for the handheld steadicam unit.
One thing you can do with your GL1 is get an analog to digital converter and output from the composite video out to the converter. It could be a better signal that you get by using a consumer-grade camcorder to play the tapes. But, if I were you I would just get the new Canon HV20. It's a consumer-grade high-definition camcorder, MiniDV, 20x optical zoom. 1920x1080 resolution. And it only costs $800 or so. It's a little unit like the other Canon consumer camcorders, and it has a freaking awesome picture. I'm actually going to sell my GL2 and buy an HV20 and the 35mm adapter I was talking about. Then I'll use the HV20 on my steadicam.

It's really a full 1080p? I thought all the "high definition" camcorders out so far hadn't actually been a full 1920x1080, but something lower than that but still higher than the 720x480 or whatever mine is? Sounds interesting though, I'll have to check out the one you mentioned.

Will, I was looking over the MAD thread tonight and I have to ask... do you have a split personality disorder?
I’m serious.
Because sometimes it sounds like you’re coming to your senses when you make reasonably well thought posts, but then today…. Jesus. Poor BishopRic. You’re more of a jackass to him than you ever were when you and I used to go at it over a year ago. All he is doing is what you said you would also do if it were not for your testimony premise. Since he doesn’t have a testimony, how can you blame outsiders to view the Book of Abraham as anything other than a fraud? You yourself said you do not believe the evidence alone could have convinced you otherwise, so why do you attack others who are only concluding what you said you would also conclude, if you were in their shoes?
I’m tempted to start some threads here but I don’t know if you’ll stick around.
I got a kick out of DCP running to your defense when the Dude tried to calm you down. The Dude criticized you for being too harsh with BishopRic. How does DCP react? By telling the Dude that he should also condemn me on this forum if he really has a problem with this kind of tone. By that logic, since DCP wails and moans about bad posters on this forum, he should also condemn it at MAD. But he doesn’t, and I have criticized Dan for this in the past because he comes across as a hypocrite. Crap attitudes and snarkiness is perfectly fine for Dan, so long as it is directed towards the critics.

One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!
