Ask God to explain how this concept can be worked in with the concept of eternal marriage.
The great thing about being God is that He doesn't have to explain -- just command, and we do it. Sorta like when the practice of polygamy was ostensibly suspended.

Well, I'm afraid I'll need some explanation on this point or I'll walk.

Except, He actually did give an explanation (the church would lose its property to the government).
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy. eritis sicut dii I support NCMO

And that's exactly what the Fundamentalists did, for which the mainstream LDS scorn them to this day -- i.e., not following the prophet.

Well, at least you have an inclination why members walked after the 1978 revelation...
Just curious, how would you be able to walk away given the spiritual answers you received before? How would you reconcile that?
I'd ask God what he wants me to do now. He gave me an answer once; I'd need some advice at this point. Probably assume secret combinations have seized control of the Church, I misunderstood part of the revelation I got, or go out on a hill and wait for fire to consume everyone (possibly including me).

Hrm. You seem very similar to a lot of apostates. I hope no one turns on you because of this answer...

I'll figure that out when it comes up.

One was an extension of marriage, the other is the complete alteration of it.
Incidentally, if they are the same why the complete lack of symmetry? People still scream about polygamy being evil while supporting this....so is the comparison apples to apple or apples to oranges?
Hello,
I Personally believe that the Lord God intended Marriage to be between one man and one woman. Nothing more and nothing less than this.
