It's a poorly written book to read. It doesn't flow well at all. That's the biggest problem with it. But if it is about the Am. Rev. War, then I'll force myself. by the way, what kind of book was Lehi given, papyrus? I'd like to know details like that. And how long was the papyrus, how long did it take for him to read it. Or was Lehi given metal plates as well? And if so how many and how heavy were they. What sort of education did Lehi have that he was able to read? It's not like people in those days had books lying around and a purpose for reading. Come to think of it, were papyrus called books? Weren't they referred to as scrolls? Would metal plates be referred to as books. What's the etymology of the english word "book"?

Ray does have a point that the Spalding theory does seem like a pet peeve for some people on this board. I see no hope for the spalding theory because I think that Sidney would have given it up when Joseph asked Nancy to marry him. And Nancy said no. I do think that sidney would have spilled the beans after that incident. And of course, if sidney did write the book, he either told nancy his secret or kept it from her and allowed her to become a Mormon. Strange indeed.

You gotta be kidding! You never read the Book of Mormon? I can't believe it. And here you are commenting on it. Unbelieveable. Read the book before you make opinions about it.

Hold on!

Ray wrote:You are so full of s***. The lack of depth in your thought is just astounding. Frankly, you and Jersey are slowly persuading me that this board isn't worth posting on. Here we go again. Everyone I've exchanged views with on this thread has been reasonable, except you and Jersey. Then you, s***head, come along with your twisted interpretations of what I said. You and Jersey do this all the time, if you're not talking gobbledygook, you want to hijack every thread to a become a Spalding thread - because that's all you know about Mormonism.

Wait just a New York minute! I haven't had ANY exchanges with you on this thread AT ALL!

1. Could someone please scan this thread to see if I've had even one exchange with Ray here?

2. Or am I insane?

Please resist the temptation to jump directly to question #2!

So there, have the thread, and have the board as well. I've had enough of you two.

For a small fee of $29.95 USD, we can add your name to the Mormon Discussions Board Outcasts Memorial Wall. How 'bout it?

My blog needs attention anyway, and I'm finally persuaded that the amount of time I waste here just having to combat you two whining hens isn't worth it.

The easy solution is to tell them to stop, Ray. Tell the person holding the gun to your head forcing you to reply to marg and Jersey, to just stop. Just say "no"!

Edit: Don' bother commenting on my blog either if you still have a link to it, because anything you write, positive or negative, will be deleted.

Request to Mods: Since Ray has abandoned the thread, can we change the thread title to: "F*** Ray" ?

marg wrote:As far as Ray goes, he essentially used that tactic of brushing me off, by telling me to go read "such and such" when he could have simply said what books according to historian "so and so" said were in Smith's library and why he(RAy) thought Smith was good at writing scripture..in particular the Book of Mormon. In addition, quite frankly from my perspective he sounded like a very religious Mormon apologist for J. Smith yet he'd just previously written a post to me how non-religious he was..so from my perspective, he came across to me as sounding "nuts". His thought process seemed inconsistent.

You are so full of s***. The lack of depth in your thought is just astounding.

I write: Well since I don't believe J.Smith wrote much if anything of the Book of Mormon, and my impression is that he used a scribe at most times, I don't know what particular writings you attribute to him, that impress you.

And your partial response is: Maybe you need to look at Joseph's library pre-BoM. Marquardt has the list.

That was intended to be a condescending brush off, and put down of me in order to insinuate I have no idea what I'm talking about with regards to the S/R theory and my perspective that Smith was unlikely to have been much of a writer or reader pre-BoM.

If you thought Smith was well-read and that's your point then instead of telling me to go search, which by the way I have and nothing turned up or am I supposed to go buy Marguardt's book in order to carry on a discussion with you, then you out of consideration for me you should have listed what Marquardt said Smith had in his library.

Anyhow no point in us discussing this further.
