Agreed. Mormonism regresses normal human sexual expression in many cases, creating undo shame, guilt and psychological hang-ups (like men and women who feel guilty engaging in "normal" sexual intimacy even after marriage...I know or have heard of many such persons).
Shame on you LDS church with your repressive and unnatural sexual phobias.
I always thought it was so odd that a person could hypothetically sneak away five minutes before their marriage, have sex, and have committed the "sin next to murder" and somehow grieve God, the angels and all the other heavenly voyeurs, but, by hanging in to some arbitrary moment of time known as the "official" marriage ceremony, God is well pleased and no sin committed, despite no difference in spousal commitment or love one towards the other.
Truly, the most disgusting aspect of Mormon teachings and the main reason I cannot have my children (or myself) attend the church even socially; I don't want that sort of harmful thinking passed on to my children like some debilitating mental virus.
Makes me sick to think I ever bought into such a dysfunctional system of sexual repression.

Re: The unnatural sex practices of the Mormon people
I had Mormon roommates who were single and they "engaged" in sex with women all the time, usually in the form of oral sex. They had absolutely NO GUILT about it at all. In fact, sex made them happy and confident which made Mormon women they'd meet in Young Adult Ward that much MORE attracted to them. So much for the "Spirit of Discernment" every Mormon woman has which makes all "immoral" men repulsive to her (as I was told many times by Mormon bishops).

Well, there's the problem. It's always someone else's fault when a young man is ineligible for his mission. Blame the girl. Blame the parents. Blame the world. But hell will freeze over before young men are told that they alone are responsible for their horniness.

They could, but should they? And why?
Fortunately, that seems to be, primarily, a mormom approach to the situation. I'll grant that there are a few Prot ministers who advise the same thing, but most recognize this for what it is.
I feel sorry for anyone who might try this.

Why should they not? Why should they subject girls to lust-on-the-street?

What, exactly, is lust on the street?

If you haven't witnessed it in response to your daughter(s) just walking down the street, then I can see why you'd not be concerned.
An example: I have a beautiful daughter, blond with green eyes, who is built along classic lines. Hourglass shape. As a teenager, she dressed modestly habitually, to follow church standards and to avoid the embarrassment of being the target of many male eyes. We were walking up the staircase in the Logan mall one afternoon on a visit to Utah, and passed a group of a dozen or more missionaries going down. Every single one of them turned to look at her. I turned around and raised my eyebrows; she kept walking. They were embarrasssed, I assume at being caught looking at someone inappropriately.
That was one of many incidents, many times the males of the species looked or whistled or patted her butt or tried to brush up against her or tried get her or her sister into a corner. Males she didn't know; males she didn't want to know.

Hello Ms. Harmony,
Would you mind giving me your daughter's phone number? I only want to have a serious discussion concerning global economics and the current crisis in Greece.
I promise.
Thank you in advance.

Good for you.

Sounds like you were pre-judging.

Glad you're mind reading sensors were in full bloom that day.
I turned around and raised my eyebrows;
Of course you did.
They were embarrasssed, I assume at being caught looking at someone inappropriately.
What made you think their look was inapropriate? So far, all you've told us - and all you can tell us - is that they looked. What's wrong with that?
That was one of many incidents, many times the males of the species looked
Male species? REally?
or whistled or patted her butt or tried to brush up against her or tried get her or her sister into a corner.
You're equating looking with whistling or invading her personal space? That's a bit of a reach don't you think?
Males she didn't know; males she didn't want to know
Lol. Okay. You're kind of superficiality comes a dime a dozen. I'm sure the feeling would have been mutual.

Re: The unnatural sex practices of the Mormon people
It strikes me that Mormons are encouraged to pay for sex.
The only way a Mormon gets to have sex in a way of which God approves is to have a temple marriage - which costs 10%.
Sex within a dysfunctional, abusive, unequal temple marriage is better in the eyes of Mormon God than an unmarried loving couple who have each others best interests at heart.
It can only be about the money...
