Balderdash, pure and simple.

It's time you recognize the fact that church doctrine and church culture are two entirely different things.

There is nothing whatsoever that is doctrinal about wearing a dress. Nothing.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

The reactions to the Facebook page by my oldest and her friends has been a hoot, they haven't reacted as much to something like this since the NOM postings by a TBM who basically said that the reason women were raped was there was some lesson they needed to learn. Oh and the ugliness toward non-LDS when ever the temple marriage exclusion is brought up. Impressions have been made.

I have decided to attend my husband's ward on Sunday in support of this event.

And I'm going to sport pants and a purple tie.

I suspect the men will get it squelched before Sunday arrives. Via guilt and bullying women into line...if you aren't wearing a dress/skirt, you are a defiant, evil, apostate!

And Mormons wonder why they get labeled a cult.

Droopy, these ladies just want to expose/highlight a really silly part of Mormon culture. There is no doctrinal reason women should not wear pants to Church. It is a cultural construct about 50 years out of date.

I mean, the GAs have already stated there is no mandate to wear dresses/skirts. Yet, Mormon culture treats the tradition that women wear only dresses/skirts to church, as if it were some divine sanction.

I really think you are making to much of it. And frankly, I think some of the participants may be doing the same.

Wanted to share with you a new rendition of the Little Drummer Boy with words from genius lyricist Monomo:

Dress, they told me, pa rum pum pum pum

In skirts below the knee, pa rum pum pum pum

My thighs they should not see, pa rum pum pum pum

This is called modesty, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,

I wore skirts.

Many years passed, pa rum pum pum pum

Skirts only could not last, pa rum pum pum pum

In '12 the die was cast, pa rum pum pum pum

Tradition was bypassed, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

I'll wear something new, pa rum pum pum pum,

I'll wear pants

I'll wear them the 16th, pa rum pum pum pum

Come sisters, join with me, pa rum pum pum pum

Let's wear our pants for Him, pa rum pum pum pum

Let's wear our best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,

rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He'll smile at us, pa rum pum pum pum

Us and our pants.

Droopy: "Woman are utterly and in totality "equal" to men in the Church."

I will believe this when they can hold their own meetings in LDS meetinghouses without a male present or when you see women passing the Sacrament.

I have not attended Church in a number of years, so I have no idea if women in California wear pants to the LDS Church, but I would be quite surprised if anyone would care. As far as I know, the Church in California would give their right arm just to have warm bodies in the seats. Since the Prop. 8 fiasco, the Church is lucky if anyone attends.

I bet if women didn't wear pants in California that would help attendance.
