LIAR

You f-ing fat-ass liar. Of course you took delight and chuckled over the fact the Utah church cult managed to purchase the temple from the CofC. Although it seems it went over Doctor Scratch's head or he was too polite to point it out, I can't tell.

You're a liar, Dan. Everyone knows it -- both the living and the dead -- believers and unbelievers alike.

So, take that, you SOB. You better trim down fatty, or you won't be around much longer.

See who laughs last!

Look at this, about the Kirtland Temple:
My delight at our (re-)obtaining the Kirtland Temple wasn’t at all based on taking pleasure in the fact that the Community of Christ lost possession of it.
"(re-)obtaining"? Putting it this way shows that he thinks it "rightfully belonged" to the Brighamite faction all along. That is *massively* dismissive of wider LDS history and it conveys a nastily smug sense of superiority towards the CoC.
What sort of respect is normally paid to the COC? Are their leaders invited to speak at SL conference? Present articles in LDS publications? Do LDS leaders discuss and share COC doctrinal contributions? Are there any believing Sl LDS who do not feel superior to COC?

Shulem long ago decided to express himself openly and without any restrictions imposed by others. Maybe he's drinking, maybe not, I don't care, he has the right to do whatever he wants, but I find it extremely refreshing that a fellow ex-Mormon feels comfortable enough to express himself openly.

The fact that he's saying these things to a man who attempted to doxx me to his rabid followers by erroneously posting the full name, occupation, place of work, and city and state of a woman he thought was me is mostly irrelevant. Mostly.

(Peterson did this because, as he informed his followers, I was "victimizing" him by noticing and reporting on his repeated, blatant, dishonest and morally repugnant plagiarism. Not plagiarizing was not an option he considered; but harming me was. And he openly stated a known neo-nazi gave him this information.)

I'm okay with Shulem calling this piece of work a liar.

Wow huckelberry. That’s a pretty horrible thing to say. Why so mean to somebody who wasn’t being mean to you?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Listen, when I decided to quit Mormonism over 15 years ago I had a little run-in with Dan during some on-line arguing. I promised him that I would not go after him but would leave him alone. For the most part, I've kept that promise and have not gone after his apologetic works in any real depth and have not really followed him very much in what he does. But every once in a while he sets me off and I can't resist the urge to blast him and just let it all out. Can you understand that?

Look, in real life, I'm a pretty nice and respectful person and get along with people in general. But being on line and dealing with Mormonism can really bring out what vicious nature I do have within me as we all have our faults, and I snap, and scream like a crazy man!

Regarding my last post, I'm quite confident Dan is lying and rejoiced in his church taking over the Kirtland temple and figured the CofC was the loser. Dan is a habitual liar and a sneaky apologist in his own right. Anyway, that's that, and I'm sorry if my post was over the top and disturbed you, but I'm not sorry that it disturbs Dan. I'm sure it does and that was my real purpose! I can be sneaky too and do so right out in the open!

Thanks luv for being so understanding and I'm sorry to hear that Dan did those things. He's a liar and a dirty rat and has a lot to answer for.

Kirtland Temple

Post by Shulem »

192 million dollars to purchase the Kirtland temple as well as other items of interest is a huge sum by any standard. I hope the LDS church takes good care of the building and I also hope that someday I'll take the opportunity to visit it. I would love to enter the Kirtland temple, quietly, respectfully, and in a dignified fashion. And if I saw Dan Peterson therein (he wouldn't recognize me because we only met once) I would not approach him or do anything to upset him.

I mean that.

And, RIP Joseph.

I've taken the opportunity several times to have guided tours through the Kirtland Temple when it belonged to the CoC. Even as a total non-believer I felt something I can't describe.

I've sat in the pews for services conducted by CoC leaders, and have listened to the blessing of the sacrament by CoC priesthood holders - in both cases ladies. I've sung Come, Come Ye Saints with gusto, and felt it in my bones.

That is where I first met the incomparable Lindsay Hansen Park. I don't remember what online contact we had had before that, but I well remember coming up to the Sunstone registration desk, and when I gave her my name, Lindsay saying "So you're Malcolm, getting up from the desk, and giving me a not-to-be-forgotten hug, like I was a long-lost friend.

I haven't been back since the change of ownership, and it makes me sad whenever I think about it.

Not to be mean, but in all seriousness, Dan looks like he's dying. I did not watch the whole video except for the opening scenes and fast forwarded through the interview scenes. But really, he does not look well and he may only have a few years or more left before he croaks and that would, I suppose, leave a hole in Doctor Scratch's Internet life and change a lot of discussion on this board.

I guess.
